I did (get a new sim from ATT)

Did you go get a new SIM from AT&T?
All it got me was another 3 e-mails, w/no luck on activation.

38 hours now.

PS And that's w/no phone connectivity, for an EMT that spells disaster for others.

Have you totally turned your phone off and turned it back on after a few minutes? I was waiting for a few hours and did that and got the activation email immediately afterwards.

34.2 hr and counting anybody taking this long to activate also?
OMG, thats TERRIBLE! I thought mine was bad at 20+ hours. Did you get an activation ID number in your e-mail. This is a nightmare! Go to an AT&T store and maybe they can straighten it out. Mine got activated and was all goofed up, and they fixed me right up, better than I could have ever imagined!

Yup, that's pretty much what happened to me.

Took it to the store, got a new sim, and nothing except for 3 e-mails for sim #2, and another 2 for sim #1.

Called this morning and was told I could not have the $20 plan, had to take the $35 plan, (no explanation given) and that it could take another 24-48 hours.

They also said there was explicit instructions for how to activate on your receipt from the ATT store (big fat lie).

Then they told me I had to leave the phone plugged into the computer for the whole duration of the activation process.

I'm so mad, I'm making myself ill.

$35 plan no explanation given? looks like you need to make the decisions not them, a lil arguing and persuation goes a long way to gettin what you want, I got the wrong number put onto my iPhone from my family plan, they said that i was gonna have to pay 25 for the new sim card, but i told them i wasn't gonna pay for a mistake on their part, and they credited it to my account so i didn't have to pay anything

I was at 34 + hours as well. Spent a couple hours on the phone this morning with various ATT depts. and reps and finally got it straightened out and now I'm activated! Prior to upgrading to the iPhone, I had a plan discount on my account associated with my employer (not a corporate account). From what the various reps have told me, I can no longer have a discount on my rate plan because of a contact between ATT and Apple. So, bottom line, it was the discount that was hanging up my activation. After we figured it out, they activated my iPhone while I was on the phone with them.

Praise the Lord I'm finally activated after 41 hours. Here's what I did.
I called 877-800-3701 and the first time was told that hold time was more than 60 minutes and to try later. Waited 10 mins and called back and was told that hold time was approx 60 mins and was put in the queue. Was probably on hold 20 mins when i got to talk to a human. i gave her my order number from the e-mail (my most recent one since I had 3 from different sim cards i had used), she was gone maybe 5 mins, came back had me eject the phone from iTunes, disconnect from computer, power off the phone, plug back into computer, and voila it's activated. powering off the phone is the important part because the first time i tried it i didn't power off the phone and it didn't make any difference. make the phone call, there may be something holding up your activation that they have to look for.

So i bought the iPhone 8gb from Apple yesterday morning and began the activation process yesterday at 2:10 PM immediately got the email saying my activiation was being processed by ATT and that it would take 24 hours. 27 hours later still waiting.

I'm porting my number over from Verizon, so out of curiosity I call VZW to see what's going on at their end and when I call I'm told that VZW never received a port request from ATT. So VZW immediately gets ATT on the line they port my number right away and not ten minutes after my call to VZW my old Treo 700 no longer works.

Now i'm just waiting for ATT to tell me I can activiate my phone. Hopefully not much longer now but at least it looks like I'm finally getting some action on my transfer. Croos your fingers.
