so i almost have enough money saved up to afford the 4gb model, but i really had my mind set on the 8. i'm not sure i'll ever use 8 (i never even filled up my 2gb mp3 player) but i've always told myself if i'm already spending $500 on the 4gb model, I may as well just go ahead and get the 8 just to have. to get the 8 i'll prob have to wait 2 more weeks (possibly 4 :( ) and i really don't want to wait any longer. any thoughts/recommendations on this? thanks

I had the same problem, but I waited and got the 8. I am so glad with that decision.

Get the 8, you won't regret it.

I'm really sorry to be the jerk here, but if you are having to save up another $100 for the 8gig, should you really be spending this much money on the phone in the first place?

I'm all about "life is short... have some fun," but just make sure you won't have the ol'e buyer's remorse!

Having said that --- 8 gig, for sure!

Hey man, I may be a first-time poster but I've browsed these forums long enough to see many people here (and other forums) start talking about reselling because they can't afford... etc. etc. ... I'm just saying think it over. These things will be cheaper in less than a year anyway.

Aside from that... I answered your question... go with the 8 gig... it's worth the hundred bucks.

I ended up getting the 4 GB. I have a ton of music on my macbook, I could easily have filled a couple 8 GB iPhones. I am college student, so scrapping together $500 is a lot of money for me. I am in my last semester of college for a while, I am student teaching. The iPhone is an incredible device that is helping me to get organized for that.

I am one of those people that would loose their head if it wasn't attached. My iPhone helps me to keep track of any seminars or any meeting that I need to go to.

$100 is a lot of green to me. I went with 4 Gb and I am happy with my choice. I won't sit and listen to 1500 different songs in a sitting, so 8 GB is not necessary for me.

I guess it all depends on what you are using the phone for. If you want to download lots of music and movies, then get the 8GB. If not, 4GB will be sufficient. iTunes makes it easy to keep your files organized, so you can just choose not to sync certian movies or playlists to keep the necessary storage space down.

Chill ok... we were asked for our advice and it was given; back off and read the original post... the poster is "asking" for advice. He was given some good advice, just because you did not like it is no cause for you to go into rip mode.

I would have given the same advice; if you can afford the 8 go for it if not then be very happy with the 4. That is why Steve chose to give us a choice.

I am a new poster to this forum, hell the iPhone is new. Please do not be off put by strong reactions to your input... I thought your advice was right on. Peace.

I would wait for the 8GB. IMO the 4GB is a waste of money when the 8GB is only $100 more.

you are another one that doesn't know what they are talking about. Rip mode?!?!? are you kidding me. where did i go into "rip mode"? i was merely stating the fact that whathisface has no businesss suggesting what other people should do with their money, when he has no idea what their financial situation is. he made an assumption which made him sound like a jerk, which he admitted he was being, and i only reiterated that. if you knew what you were talking about, you would realize that i am the original poster. how bout you re-read.

You were only stating a fact? He was only stating his opinion, you should not have had such a harsh reaction to it. He's only trying to get you to think before you so something you may regret. Also, he only "admitted" he was a jerk, (which he did not exactly do) because he is being the mature person and ending the argument before it starts. Honestly Daniel, you asked for advice on a forum. Technically, you asked for financial advice. So don't be surprised if someone has a different opinion than you. If everyone just told you what you wanted to hear, then what would be the point in even asking? Take the advice for what its worth and seriously consider if the phone is worth it to you. You admit that you may have to save up for a month just to get another $100. Are you going to have the extra $20-$40+ that this phone is going to cost you every month?

Trust me, I'm not saying that broke people shouldn't have anything nice. I had to choose between fixing my car right away and waiting for the phone, or driving around with no reverse for two weeks while i saved up another $600 for my transmission.

Guess what....let's just say I don't park anywhere I know I'm gonna have to back out of.

If you want it, get it. But if you're going to deny the advice people give you, then you obviously already have the answer in your mind.

the whole point is that it was not a financial question, and whathisface is not my freakin banker! duh! i was asking for opinions on the different models. if i wanted advice on what i should do with my money, i would have started a completely different thread, perhaps one labeled "should i be able to back out of a parking space or settle for the 4gb model?" people like you try to blow stuff like this out of the water. im in complete control of my finances, and that is for nobody on these threads to worry about. the point of my post was simply to ask others opinions on whether the 4gb model is worth settling for, or if the extra $100 is worth it. but arrogant people like you can't see that, and only see it as an opportunity to bash someone. geeze. now why don't you go park head first against a building, and then use your iPhone to do a search for the nearest mechanic.

OK...you got me...Im having transmission trouble.

But it doesn't change the fact that youre a big, mean, unhappy person.

PS: We all still stand by our opinions. We're not telling you how to spend your money. Just offering small tidbits of advice to think about. We're all friends here. Right buddy?

I was lucky enough for my mom to get it for me on a whim and the only one left was an 8gb. Get the 8, you'll be happy you did.

So Cal
My dad always said you only live once so live happy and he thoroughly enjoyed his life until the end by splurging a little once in awhile! If you have the money or even better saving it to buy something special then I say go for it!
I contemplated over buying this phone at $499 and then I went ahead and did it, in memory of my dad, he would have totally wanted one of these!
I am so happy I did, I did just by the 4gb but it's perfect for me but if you think the 8 will be better for you than wait until you get what you really want.
All I can tell you is I LOVE MY iPhone!:p
