Hey everyone,
After going through many returns for various reasons I now end up with a 5 series phone that seems to have the 2 dot light bleeding issue above the home key when the background is black. I have noticed in the glowing battery pics that the phones that are 5 series seem to have this light bleed, and the 7's don't. I was wondering if anyone else with a 5 series has noticed this on their phone.

here's the link to the thread that has the light bleed pics.

p.s. sorry if I made you guys who didn't know about this problem suddenly aware, I sure hated reading about the white dot issue when I thought my 7 was fine, oh well, i guess this is what the forums are for.

Yes my 5 series has this but it really makes NO difference to me in the slightest. I'd rather have this than the more washed out 7 screen.

Thx for the feedback, but having owned a 7 previously I would not consider it to be a more washed out version. Many people actually state that it has more contrast, which would make it less washed out. Either way i'm happy to see i'm not the only one with the bleed issue.

I have a 5 series and I too have that bleed on the side. Are you telling me that the 7 series doesn't have this kind of issue?

Hey Burn,
No I don't believe that the 7's do have this issue (the one's i've seen atleast-there might be light bleed issues with 7's that I don't know about). I guess it's the trade off for having no white dots, but keep in mind that not all 7's have the white dot issue. Either way it seems that this is a common issue with the 5 screens and does not warrant a return for me atleast.

well because the 7 version is dimmer than the 5th, i like the 5 better
just because it doesn't have the white dots all over the screen in a dark room. :laugh2:

ive never had a problem with my iPhone since i bought it the first day, and hopefully never have a problem

Xuolo,
So your saying that you don't have the two tiny light bleed dots on top of the home button on your screen when it is on a black background such as when charging?

I have had multiple iPhones of both series and they all had very, very slight light bleed (common on all backlit electronics) and the screen quality were all impeccable....none were in the slightest bit washed out.

I don't really see the point in a poll for this topic as most people have not been able to physically compare the different screens in person.:(

I'm not really sure if I can say which I like better. I'm happy with my 5 because it seems brighter, but I have had a 7 that did not have the white dot issue. It does seem though that the 5 has the light bleed. So I dunno i'm kinda split, but i'm happy with what I have now and that's a 5.

just enjoy the iPhone, don't worry too much about what version or what lcd type it is. ( mine is a 5)
so what if there is some light leak, it happened to pretty much everything electronics from tv. camcorder and ect

don't trade it back in because of those two lights, don't be too picky
