Crap. The higher the rate of sales for these things the less the motivation for Apple to make it better. Instead of making a $600 phone worth $600 they just shrugged and discounted it to closer to its actual value. People can 'demand' all they want, lol, if Apple is still selling stuff, what do you think the effect will be? Please, get real.
I'm not just talking about "Apple" I also said developers. There are ringtone makers that don't get deleted with updates already. Third party "hacks" out there. I think if there is a bigger market for these developers they will have more motovation to make some cool stuff for the iPhone. Not just software either as I mentioned. Apple isn't the only game in town for iPod toys so why not for iPhone toys?

I'm filing a class action law suit.
If you're tweaked about the $200, just wait until you pay your lawyer fees and then walk away from court empty handed when your case gets tossed out... then you'll really have something to complain about.

I was in line for 7 hours at the Grove on iDay. I thought 'What if..."? The people in line said: " Apple, dropping prices, no way!". I should have listened to my gut instincts. I just didn't think there would be a price drop in 2 months. 2 years but not two months. I feel ripped off:mad:

Ah well I'm just not feeling the excitement about having to 'hack' my phone.

If Apple loses, they will be paying my lawyers fees. This is going to cost THEM a lot more than $200

I was being sarcastic, one of the awe's of the iPhone is that not everyone could get one now everybody is gonna have them and the awe is gone, its a great phone and I love mine, you will never find a rolex for 200 dollars they range from 3,000 to 100,000+ and they are the finest made watches in the world, if they were sold for 200 dollars they wouldn't be and most of that is the quality of the product and the people that buy and wear them know this.
by dropping the price of the iPhone to make them affordable just made the product one that was a must own piece of hot technology that movie stars were buying into a fly by night now everyone will have one item and its a shame.
Why is it a shame that everyone will have one? Once again I don't see the connection between a device's allure being directed related to how much people of lower income brakets cannot afford them...

But then again, I would use the iPhone for mail, and internet and listening to music. Not for compensation....ahem.
Along the same lines of how I use a car for driving....not for 'puttin' the top down, crusin' for babes....'

The only instance that I have come across is when I buy a cool shirt at a thrift store or something - and I see someone on TV, or in public that has the same shirt. Then I'm like, darn...someone else has this shirt - it's not as cool.
Gadgets are gadgets and not unique, and just because Joe Blow down the street has one does not LESSEN functionality of yours. So maybe you should stop looking to the exclusivity of devices as a high selling point.

Sorry to be so bitchy about this - but seriously this materialism really irks me. I want the iPhone because of its features...not because other people can't afford it.

Following is my comment to Apple. I just left this for them.

I really hope you plan on compensating the people who already bought an iPhone. If I do not receive any sort of compensation, I will not consider buying another Apple product. The value of the product has dropped 33% within the first two months of ownership. I cannot get a Macbook if the price is going to be sabatoged by the people I bought it from! Apple makes some good products, but to drop the price like this before you have even put out new applications and updates, is absurd!

I've been an early adopter all my adult life and never seen such a big price drop in such a short amount of time. They have no shame.

This was my first Apple product and will be my last. They have the right to employ predatory practices on me and I have the right to see them for what they are and boycott them.

Ha, I can't believe I just found out about the price drop. While it seems unfortunate it's just something you have to accept with technology. I got a Pioneer Plasma last year and within 2 months the price dropped $500. Sure I was a bit peeved, but I got the Plasma when I wanted it. It's the same way with the iPhone. You got it when you wanted it and didn't have to wait. To me that's worth $600 + tax.

On a side note, I've got my iPhone insured through Statefarm. The policy covers the cost of my iPhone plus tax, but now that the price has dropped, they're only giving me $400 + tax in coverage. Should I request for a reduction in the price of my policy?

The only people that are pissed are the little immature punks who thought they were special because they, or their parents, were the only ones who could afford an iPhone. It made them feel superior and special, now some "regular" people might be able to afford one so they don't feel so special any more. Get over it and get a life because there are way more important things in life than buying new electronics at full price then pissed because the price dropped.

Are you an idiot?

I am mad because I feel like I just had $200 stolen from me.

I got my iPhone (i stands for idiot for buying it) on Aug 1st from an AT&T store... I just spent 1.5 hours trying to reach a tech rep at Apple... I was passed from dept. to dept. then told to call AT&T for any issues I was having. I am really p.o. that I just spent $600.00 plus $70.00 for the extended warranty on a phone that is only worth $400.00. Apple has taken us for $200.00... and now they even have the nerve to charge us for ringtones... For crying out loud they already have made money on all of us.
We were "guinea pigs" and now we sure look kind of stupid to all our friends for purchasing the iPhone... I expected a price drop but NOT in two months....6months or a year I can understand... I can't understand their marketing because they are alienating many people that supported their product. I personally will never buy another Apple product until they make some kind of adjustment to their customers.:mad::mad::mad:

The iPhone is going to be the new Razr.... thats the only thing I'm pissed about.
Well, not exactly a Razr. The Razr is just a thin flip phone. I still love my iPhone. I'm just bummed I didn't wait a couple months!

But, you know what? All my kids friends think I'm the coolest cat around. And from a bunch of jaded teens and pre-teens who think people in their 20's are decrepit, it's almost worth it! ;)

They are dropping the 4gb i heard.
Well, I think they are ramping up to introduce a 16gb iPhone if their 16gb iPod Touch is any indication.

The 4gb apparently didn't sell very well. But, they should be cleared out of the pipeline rather quickly at $299 a pop, no?

I has outside the 14 day return period on both....one was 16 days and the other was 27 days.....bottom line, call around and be persistent and only talk to store managers.....you have nothing to lose and some serious cash to gain...I really love my iPhone now!:laugh2:

Will that work on a AT&T store?
