I think I've made up my mind. Initially I was undecided, but I just finished watching for a second time Wednesday's announcement. I like the iBooks app, and one of the apps which I love on my iPhone, they display during the announcement is MLB's app. I love baseball, and it looks like this will be fun to have with all stats on the screen at my fingertips. Now to determine if I want the 16 or 32 GB wifi version.

Get the 32 GB. You may eventually regret getting the 16 as you might come close to filling it up. I plan on the 32 as well for that reason.

I really really hope that they decide to put some sort of GOOD photo editing app on this thing...that would make it worth my money for use as a field device when I am working on the photography stuff I enjoy.. or since my wife enjoys cooking and baking, a really good app for loading in all of her recipes where she could sit this on the counter and then even at the touch of screen in a particular recipe, drop down a video for instruction on doing something in the recipe.....its really all about the apps in this thing that will make it more than just a shiny toy to me.

That's exactly what I'm waiting for. I think it'll either get delivered on the day of release, or a few days after. Apple are usually quite good with orders etc

Let me ask you all this - in the past when they've announced new products but with a delayed released at what point would Apple start taking pre-orders. The Wi-Fi iPads should be available late March, so how soon ahead of time can we expect them to start taking orders. I have a local Apple Store (actually two of them), but really don't want to go and do the camping out the night before thing, if I can get delivery on day 1 (or shortly after).

I really don't think anyone knows when pre orders will start, but I would think no later than 3/1. Just a guess.

I will just sit back and let Hondamaker, iPhonewarrior, and the rest tell me what the iPad is like LOL. It will probably be 2 more years before I consider if the iPad is something I truly need. I am happy for you though and hope the iPad is everything you wish for.

Now that the iPad has been announced, I think about it every time I drag my MacBook with me around the house to browse the internet. I've come to realize that 90%+ of what I do on my MacBook could be done with the iPad. I may be the first in line to get one on release day :)

I am kinda leaning this way as well, however the one thing that keeps me from totally committing to buying it is lack of multitasking and flash. For flashless browsing, my iPhone does just fine. I am starting to find myself wanting to buy the device though, but I will probably wait to try one out in a store before making up my mind 100%.

I will surely post an in-depth review of the iPad on or around March 27.

I have been tryingto find a good solution for car PC , have reliable touch screen , GPS , my music , videos, TV(sling app, or orb) if I want to . weather button , live traffic, News. It is good to wait for the right product come along . I already set budget for $1000 for it , and this cost less , more mobile. What is next is someone come out with an awesome car mount and I am ready to line up. I think there are a lot of people like me can't wait for this product to ship.

Yes, i awaited the launching of iPad, but was disappointed. Hopefully, in the near future they rethink and come up with something great.

I'm definitely getting one as soon as I can. It seems like quite a few folks are convinced that 'nobody' wants or likes the iPad or that tech-savvy folks certainly don't, because that seems to be the majority sentiment here - but I think that's way off base. Nearly everything I've seen reported from some of the major techies who attended the launch event and actually played with the device has been very positive. Blazing speed and gorgeous UI / overall design seem to be the overriding impressions of a lot of those folks. I've also talked to a number of IRL friends, very much non tech-savvy folks, who are dead keen to get one.
I think multitasking will surely come along for it quite soon, in OS 4.0 a few months after its release or shortly thereafter, and believe this simple, intuitive OS will be a big hit with novice users and will extend the iPhone platform even further. I won't shed any tears because Flash is missing and will almost certainly remain missing forever - as many sites have pointed out, Apple's main reason for excluding it may not be to do with money at all, but much more to do with the fact that Flash is the single biggest cause of crashes in Mac OS X and they will not allow that to bugger up the iPad.
I may be a bit biased as I also look forward to blogging about the iPad, and will be doing so at a new site I've setup to cover it, HERE.
geordisjd - it is excellent to see you back and I definitely hope you stick around.

It's really all our fault--the general public and the media--that people are disappointed in the iPad. Look at all the hype and rumors that were floating around, saying the iPad would do all kinds of things that in reality it can't. You can't blame Apple. However, Apple should have leaked some info to sorta tone down some of the multitude of false rumors. We all know Apple likes to use the public fervor to do it's marketing for it, but it (Apple) needs to be a little more responsible. Jobs should know by now that when there are more false rumors than there are truths, that there will be a huge anti-climax, if you will.

I'm happy about the 10 hours battery life. I can see me buying an ipad before a ibook simply because it's smaller and will do most of what I need it to do.
And when this whole html 5 thing is settled I'll kick back and watch me some Hulu.
