I just got my iPhone and started to activate and it said "additional time is needed" and to wait for an email and it could take up to 6 hours. When i turn my iPhone on it says "connect to iTunes" but i am connected because iTunes opened up and said iPhone and let me get this far. am i doing something wrong?

Keep bugging AT&T. They will get to of eventually. It took over 60 hours for some of us to get that email.

Just be patient. That's the way it will be until it is activated. If you're coming from a different carrier and trying to port a number it could take a while. If you're an existing customer with a previous data or text message plan it could take a while.

As you can tell, I'm not a big fan of the activation process. I just don't understand why they can't make sure the phone is making and receiving calls before you ever leave the store. Of course if you bought from Apple.com then there's not much you can complain about.
