I think the only way people are able to use able is through Safari. By doing it this way it does not count towards your SMS text message monthly allotment. In the future, many foresee a day when IChat is release (or AIM) and that will count towards your SMS text message count.

i'm not 100% on this but i'm pretty sure if you receive a text and don't open it it doesn't count, because when i remember to do this (if the message is short enough to read without having to open it) my total messages for that month seem to be low, but i never really actually looked into it
