I can't pretend I don't miss by blackberry...I just got rid of my 8800. For what it did it, it did perfect...email. Everything else was just a compromise for me. The calendar was just ok, the contacts were pretty good. One thing I do miss is the profile settings. I used it for meetings, and even at night I had one set up that would filter out biz emails but allow calls or text messages from my kids in case they needed me.

I know the iPhone will get there and I'm willing to deal with the extra steps to get my emails until they do.

There is no way I would give up my BlackBerry or my iPhone. The iPhone has made the world "So much Closer"

It is funny how folks keep trying to compare the iPhone to a BlackBerry. That is like comparing an Apple to an Orange. I own both an 8700c Blackberry and an 8Gb iPhone. Each function well at what they were intended to do

Just my 2Cents

I'd say it's more an Apple to a pear. PIM features are important to me, and while I have made significant PIM concessions by switching to the iPhone, I still get the functionality I need, just not the extra conveniences.

I will say that I would return this phone if not for the promise of a firmware update.

Blackberry 8800 here. Running on BES. I love it, but as soon as iPhone integrates into a corporate email environment which I have to think they are looking toward, I will buy one. I mean $ is $ and you open up a whole new sales market if you can include businessses.

Been playing with the one I bought my wife and I love it.

That would be also true for Macs but it did not happen. It may not happen for iPhon either. It is very likely that in one year many phones will become more media friendly (BB and WM) thus reducing the appeal for IT deparments to try to bring iPhone into their environments.

Many people keep saying this, but other than push mail and Exchange full integration, what does the Blackberry have over the iPhone? I've never been a Blackberry user, so this is a legitimate question, not a bash.

I work in a corporate atmosphere and basically would not go back to my Treo (another touted businesss class PDA) to save my life. I basically add any appointments manually or I can do a go between and sync my Treo at work, then at home, then I can sync my iPhone and have everything except for tasks, no biggie there though. Yes, it's a few steps, but what does it take me, like 2 minutes a day more to keep using my iPhone. It's worth it to me.

I do feel that if full Exchange integration is added, then Blackberry's and Treo will simply fade away.

Imap, POP3, etc

iPhone supports imap, most Exchange (yuk) connectors are set as so...

I have no problem setting up my corporate email server to push email to my iPhone. As a systems admin and support tech, I have had no issues setting up a test Exchange environment to function with my iPhone, since our corporate executives that have iPhones are nowable to sync with our calendar server as well.

Sure there is no BES equivalent yet for the iPhone and as a company we don’t run Exchange (I could go into reasons why but that would take to long) but I have it working with no issues within our corporate environment.

I still have my Blackberry 8800 which does not have a camera. Push email is not that big of a deal. If your life depends on the extra 15 minutes you probably shouldn't be leaving the office in the first place. I wish the speaker were louder, but f*** it they didn't make the phone for just me....I will keep the iPhone and openly and loudly hope they fix it with a software update. Anyone want to buy my 8800?

dunno...I was getting ready to ebay it. It appears they bring around 300-350. I'd sell it for 300.

I would love my iPhone even more if it could allow me to save attachments and attach files for emailing out to people. Now, I most use it for surfing cause it has got the best web browser eve in a mobile phone. If only, we can attach any files and save attachments into a folder in the iPhone drive.
