Annoying pop-up ad.

Chris, can you please remove this pop-up ad when you get a chance, or at least make it so it isn't so obtrusive when viewing the forum pages.? I understand that the revenue that is generated from ads like these helps support eiC, but this particular ad pops up even when I am not clicking on anything and doesn't always go away right away even after I click on the X. As you can see from my screenshot, the ad blocks the forum page. It also pops up when I am in the middle of viewing threads.

Thanks in advance.

Just curious, are you logged in? I only get an ad or two before I sign in. Never see any afterwards.
Only when I am not logged in. However, this shouldn't matter. As I said, I understand the need for the ads, but they should still be "unobtrusive". If I were a non member viewing this site for the first time and I kept seeing that ad pop up every time I go to a different thread, it would probably discourage me from joining eiC....

I've seen worse ads than that. Chris's mission statement was to provide eiC members an ad-free forum. Just log-in and ignore it.

I agree with Irish in that if I were browsing the form as a new visitor, I'd be profoundly annoyed with that ad. Especially if it came up more than once during my visit.

Site owners aren't always aware of the kinds of ads that get injected into their sites, and historically Chris has removed obtrusive crap like that. Might as well let him know about it.

I don't think it's a "pop up" in the true sense. Looks like it just loads over the site in the same window.

You missed my entire point, John. My issue is not with the ads themselves but rather how "obtrusive" they are. Every other iPhone and Android forum that I visit also has ads, the difference is, they don't pop-up while I'm in the middle of reading something to the point that I can't even see what I am looking at.....

Correct. This ad pops up even though I have Block popup set to on via the safari settings.

Exactly what I was trying to say. I did let it go for a while, however, since the problem persists I thought it was worth mentioning.... It's not a matter of logging in and not having to see these ads because I know a lot of people who like to get lurk and get a feel for what a forum is like before they join. I can tell you, if I were a non member viewing eiC for Apple related info and this ad kept obstructing my view of the forum I would not keep coming back here.... Just saying.

BTW, this ad is still popping up!

I understood what you were saying, it isn't the nicest possible way to view a website. However, at the same time you could always just log-in and the ads disappear...

I hate ads and I don't let the little things in life annoy me. :p

Just log in - set safari to remember log in. No more problem.
I shouldn't have to log in to avoid pop-up ads and neither should others who come to eiC for info. I brought this up to help the non members out who aren't sure that they want to join eiC yet and are having to contend with this issue.

Ads are fine, the obtrusive pop-up ads are not...

Understood, John. But how about the "non members" who are viewing this site? Do you think having an ad pop up in their face every few minutes is going to get them to join? I sure as heck wouldn't and I think there are others who wouldn't as well.

I could be wrong but didn't Chris have some water damage from Irene? May take just a little time for him to look at this.
Until then I guess people will just have to hot that little X in the corner. Annoying and rather bothersome, I guess so.

He might have and I wasn't expecting this to be resolved immediately. However, it would be nice if this issue could at least be acknowledged. Btw, clicking on the X does not remove the ad right away.

Doesn't bother me... I just ignore them. (y)
This is an ad that can be ignored, the one I posted above is one that can not be. Notice how unobtrusive this ad is compared to that which I posted above
