I remember someone posting " this is my new wallpaper" and the avatar was the same. he's the guy that hacked sony, Is that what you mean about his story mindi?
I mean ps3, my bad.
That was another member using a picture of geohot, not the real geohot (George Hotz). Yes, he's the one who hacked the PS3, but I'm referring to his
iOS jailbreaking/unlocking story:
He was the first hacker to unlock the iPhone. That was less than a month after the 2G's release. He went on to make many jailbreak tools and unlocks before getting fed up with the the jailbreak community's sense of entitlement and disrespect. In his characteristic dramatic way, he ridiculed jailbreakers (more specifically, people who incessantly pressured him and made demands on Twitter) and declared that he would no longer make these tools, and deactivated his Twitter account and removed his blog. His comments and behavior led to many of his followers turning on him and expressing their disapproval on forums, Twitter, etc.
He went underground for several months before reappearing the day before the scheduled release of Greenpois0n v.1 with his own untethered jailbreak tool, limera1n. He claimed this was for the greater good of the jailbreak community and the only way to preserve a good userland untether exploit, which was about to be "burned" with greenpois0n. Greenposion's developers were then put in a position where the only practical move was to delay its release (which ended up being just a couple of days). This was done in order to avoiding burning an exploit that Apple that was unaware of and implementing Geohot's untether, which was thought to be known by Apple and thereforee would most likely be closed in the next firmware update, regardless if it was used or not.
Apparently, he had made several unsuccessful attempts at having them use his untether in greenpois0n, but they didn't want to delay its release. Maybe because they had learned that many of us wait for the countdown clock to strike midnight and are unreasonable and unaccepting of any delays? So he did what he felt was right, released his jailbreak and, once again, he was bashed. Much of this was due to people not understanding or believing his reason for releasing greenpois0n and subscribing to the theory that this was nothing more than an insidious move.
