Yes

I cracked my screen on day 2! I was P'ed off. No joke it feel like 2 inches? It cracked all the way across, but still work. Looks like there is just a sheet of glass protecting the actually graphics screen. They have nothing yet for replacement parts or anything. I called Apple and they are so lost. They said to call back in a month. Don't you think being glass screen they would have thought about this alittle more. I know they just upgraded from plastic to glass, but I know over 50 people who have cracked theirs already. I actaully heard the glass screens will possibly be recalled because all cell phones have to meet a standard for a drop. I mean a 2" fall is sad. I have dropped my Treo 50 times from 5+ feet and it works like a champ. Owning Remodeling company im am always on the go. Have another extra one I haven't opened, but I think im going to sell it till they get their stuff together

Cracked Screen?

I dropped mine onto the cart path from a moving golf cart yesterday..
A couple of minor scruffs on the side of the case, and that was it! I am surprised that you know fifty people with cracked iPhone screens. Heck, I don't know 50 people with iPhones yet.

Well, then go back to the Treo, as unstable as it is.

Seems ot be a lot of haters on the site today with nothing better to do.

Dude knows 50 people with cracked iPhone screens? I doubt it.

After watching the PC World Stress test video the other day where they drop it on linoleum and concrete etc and nothing bad happens, I've been dropping mine all day on purpose. people pick it up like it is so fragile and when they ask "Aren't you afraid you'll break it?" I say nope and drop it on the floor. Not so much as a scratch yet.

Nope I talked to Apple for 25 minutes they said to call back in a month.

As for the smart a$$ comments about knowing 50 people with broken screens. Actually probably more for your information. I work for a 2,000 plus at engineer firm and if I have to guess over 350 people have them here and lots of screens are already chipped or cracked from minor falls just over weekend. Like I said before there are already recall rumors. I mean come on when designing a phone they should have known. Little common sense. I bet every single person who has a cell phone has dropped theirs atleast once. I seriously doubt you drop yours to show people. What idiot would seriously drop a 600 dollar phone to show someone it wont break. I think your smarter then that. They are way to slippery for a phone as well. Easily slip out your hand with materials. Im not hater to the iPhone cause I own many many Apple products, but they could have thought alittle better. Tell me this then... Why doesn't anyone offer a protection plans for minor falls, etc? All other phones and other providers offer protection plans. iPhone is first I have heard that does. Let me answer this for you. Because they break way to easy.

SammyB,

Ill keep you posted as to who fixes it or if its easy to fix yourself. The Apple people had no clue as to when they would be able to get a part. Sad. Im thinking of wrapping it back up and telling them to keep it...Anyone want to buy my other 1..haha

Has anyone bought the iPhone with their american express card? If so you might be in luck. I bought mine with my Optima Platinum card and I have buyers protection on it which gives me 90 days of protection from theft, vandalism and accidents(dropping it). They will reimburse total cost up to 90 days from purchase date. Hopefully by then there will be insurance out there. FYI this benefit comes free with the card. I also confirmed this by calling AE yesterday.

Also another benefit from the card is that it doubles my warranty from 1 year to 2 years for free. Gotta love AE for all the benefits of the cards. Also no annual fee with this card.

When I bought mine at the Apple store they said they will be offering protection plans in the coming weeks. kinda strange they don't offer them at the launch, but I will most likely be purchasing this. There should be some sort of case we can get.
