Anyone else have their iPhone "brick" on them?

Two days into having my iPhone I was doing a reset due to a hanging emaill screen and when the iPhone came back on I got a yellow yield-like sign telling me to "Please Connect to iTunes". I was at work so I couldn't just plug it in. The phone would not leave this screen and was in fact, bricked.

Upon connecting it to iTunes, it proceeded to download a 91MB firmware file, reinstall some other firmware version on my iPhone and then force a restore.

I am convinced the thing never ceases trying to check my Yahoo account but still cannot receive mail via this account.

I plan to exchange it this weekend.

Gmail has been working. My .mac account is working as well. It is the Yahoo (IMAP) that doesn't work.

The brick on day 2 was where I drew the line.

Mine did basically the same thing. It gave me the “yellow triangle” when I was out the other day. When I got back and tried to re-sync, it made me restore everything and it also indicated that the battery was critically low although I had charged it the night before and barely used it that day. I exchanged it this morning as I really can't have it freaking out on me when I'm out of the country as I often am without access to my iTunes. My “usage” meter that indicates “usage since last full charge” has never indicated any usage since I bought the phone. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the other issue but I guess it could.

I tried applying the tethering hack and ended up making the iPhone unusable. I had to do the full restore. I have to say Apple did an awesome job with the backup and restore. It was all back to normal again. :)

Good to hear they were good about exhanging it. I was afraid they would try to make me go through some Genius Bar process. I honestly just don't want a $600 phone that bricked on me on day 2. I want to start over.

The Apple “technician” told me that my iPhone problem was most likely a corrupted file issue on my computer and was initially reluctant to exchanging it. He did eventually admit that it could also be a bad unit which makes much more sense to me given that the battery has never indicated a complete charge. I insisted that they exchange it and they eventually did. I just got done syncing it to my iTunes and after a full charge, the “usage since last full charge” meter actually works on this phone and hopefully I won’t be seeing any yellow triangles again.

If they tell me the issue is with my computer I am going to be hot. I would be so let me understand this....my iMac is working fine, my iPod is working fine and my Shuffle is working fine but since my iPhone is having issues IT JUST MUST be an issue with my computer....

I just noticed that I have no values in the time since last charge. I don't know that I have ever seen any values there. I still fear getting a "worse" phone.

So if I exchange my current one and the new one has dead pixels, can I return that one as well? I just feel that for $600 I should get an iPhone in the EXACT condition it is supposed to be in.

My previous iPhone also never displayed any values in the “ time since last full charge” , just blank lines where the time value would be “Usage ---“ Standby---“. My new one works just fine. This might explain why my wife’s iPhone purchased the same day has always had better battery life. The first iPhone was also always just shy of a full green battery indicator. The new one shows a totally full charge.
