Hey guys,

I was curious if this is a common iPhone thing or just unique to mine. Right above the home button I have two little areas where the light "bleeds" out from the backlight onto the screen. Attached is a picture of what I'm talking about, let me know if you have this problem too.... Btw, it is most visible on screen when the graphic being displayed is black.

-Thanks!

You have to really be looking for it, but I noticed mine as soon as I took it out of the box. I thought about going and exchanging my phone at AT&T but figured I might end up with one with other problems so I held off. if it keeps bothering me I might call Apple and look into getting it fixed or a replacement. This wouldn't normally bother me but after spending $650 plus canceling out of another carrier I don't think it's acceptable....

Here is another picture, it's actually displaying a black screen but looks blue in the picture.... I think I am going to call Apple and see about a replacement as it's bugging me and it seems to be getting worse/more noticeable....

I had this same issue and returned mine yesterday to the Apple store. If you put your iPhone up against another iPhone without the bleeding you will see a difference. You will also notice on the home screen that your icons are washed out a bit of color compared to other iPhones. I would recommend exchanging the phone if you can.

Well crap. Thanks for the reply, I guess I'll have to try to get Apple to replace it as yesterday was the 14th day and last day for return. I don't have an Apple store here or anywhere close :(. Just an AT&T and i'm sure they won't help me....

I think you might be confused. I am talking about the two bits of light that are leaking out on my screen. On a black background you can see it more than anywhere else. That first picture doesn't show what I am talking about as well, look at the new ones I posted. I think you might be fine. :)

Actually I know what you were talking about just now I see it on mine also, two lights a lil bit above the home button ,its brighter than any other but also there are other lights like that around the perimeter of the screen but not as bright as the two on top if menu button , also I noticed on mine there is a dead pixel ='(

Mine has these also. Not quite as bad. I also noticed there is a little bleeding in tho bottom corners as well. I can't really see it unless I'm really looking for it.

I tried to exchange mine at an Apple store because the color looked washed out compared to my wife's iPhone (as well as to the demos they had at the store), but they told me that it wasn't enough out of spec to warrant a free exchange.

I wonder how the Apple "geniuses" know what is and isn't out of "spec" by eyeballing the thing?

At any rate, please let me know if anyone has any luck getting an exchange for this issue. And let me know how you managed to convince them that the issue warranted an exchange. Thanks!

i don't know sorry, but why didn't they have insurance or warrantee on the phone, i mean unless there are something wrong with the mainboard or screen you could get it fix, but what if you drop it or have deep scratches on it, there should be a lil plan where you only paid once and whatever happen to your phone, you could bring it back and exchange for a new one

i think you guys are getting carried away......light bleed is common with all conventional backlit screens, get used to it because it will be around until iPhones use LED backlightin

See I had the bleeding on the top of my screen as well. When there was a black screen up it make it look almost grey. When there was a white screen it made it look yellow. The geniuses took a look and saw it right away so they replaced it for me. You could clearly see a difference in the new one.

For those of you that have this issue that is washing out colors and distorting other colors, you should be able to get it replaced. If it is minor they will not replace it. What you can do is tell them you want to compare with another iPhone as that is the easiest way to compare.

yeah have them replace that, not normal nor acceptable for a $500 or $600 investment
