Sour Apple?

Jobs bragged about the positive feed back from iPhone customers saying the iPhone was "off the charts" and that the satisfaction with the phone was the highest it has been for any Apple product in the company's history. Until they made all the loyal Apple Fans outraged by dropping the price of their 2 month old iPhone by $200. Can you say Sour Apple?

Please get upset about something more important in your life than 200 bucks. If any of you are starving to have bought an iPhone, then it's not Steve Jobs that's the problem.

We still have an amazing device in our hands, and soon there's going to be a whole bunch of more people with it. It's awesome. These forums are going to grow like crazy, and the awesome awesome hacked apps we have seen so far is just the tip of the iceberg.

BTW, gentlegiantcraig great sig.

iPhone pricecut -- Share Your iPhone Story (link)

I think most of us early iPhone cutomers are not very happy about the new iPhone pricecut. I felt like someone just stole $200 from my pocket.

I think we (as consumers) need to make Apple hear our voice. They will never learn (and repeat this practice in the future) if we don't let them know.

It is ironic that Apple has this 'Share Your iPhone Story' page in its website. I just filled in the page with my story of being ripped off by its new iPhone pricecut.

http://www.apple.com/iphone/share/

Take a minute, and share your ripoff story with them too!

Regards,

I agree with everyone. Also, that I spent an hour complaining on the phone is getting me mad. I am not thinking that I have to spend to most on a cool item..... I am thinking that Apple didn't have to screw me out of $200 for 7 days! duh!

I wish we didn't have all Apple products in this house... It is getting me so mad. They bite now. No thanks!

I hope no one buys there $499 phone and I am serious. You don't treat customers like this....... and stay in businesss.

iPhone new price is Steve Jobs worst mistake

You don't piss off your base fan base. Does he know the basic skills of markteting? I am pissed that I got ripped off $200 bucks but I can't believe how dumb he is. Also if they are so high tech why don't they have any IVR system implemented on their call line...

I am still pissed so Apple SUCKS now.... take back my 2 laptops and 2 ipods.... and I want a refund on my iPhone... I will go buy a sidekick with a company that has some class... Apple bites...

they gave me a ticket number on my complaint after waiting one hour to complain.... I want out of my contract..... they are awful....

@CK2004. Stop creating threads on the same topic. If you are upset, we have a thread for that and you've posted in it. Continue creating threads and you will not have a forum to voice your displeasure with Apple, at least not here.

Its the price of being first.

This is normal for all electronics and prescription drugs

Remember when the HD DVD Player was $999 in March?
$149 at wal-mart this christmas.
For the exact same Toshiba player.

The higher prices at release help to recover the R&D cost.
You are correct, sir. You also screw your loyal customer base that usually buys at release with this practice. Let's be real here also. The iPhone is totally different than any other technology that released recently. All the hype and hoopla surrounding it. Some of us buy items because of, or for it's status. If you bought a 2008 Range Rover at full price, wouldn't you be angry if the price dropped 33% in two months? You wake up one morning and every driveway in your neighborhood, has a new Range parked there at a cheaper price. Wouldn't you feel stupid for over paying as well as not being special anymore? Now everyone and their grandmother will have an iPhone. I now have to find something hot and different to buy. M:mad:

This is so bad.... never again supporting Apple

Dude, I was on hold for an hour to complain. You can kiss my gritts. If you lost 30% of your purchase price in under a month you might be mad too. I am livid. I have bought ever Apple product available and now they suck. Sorry that you work for them. The stoc prices are going way down as we speak. Steve Jobs cares about himself... so sad to me. I am just pissed that I lost $200 in them in about 7 days. They *********! Never again..... to many Apple products here.... LOVING MICROSOFT!

They don't do this to customers.. ever? Have they?

It was a dirty move

Thats just wrong what Apple did. Luckily I was able to get my $200 back. I love Apple and my phone even more now. I also like the iPod touch, its like a little brother to the iPhone.

Apple just set a precedent that they are going to pay for... How many people are going to run out when a new product is released when Apple now has shown that if you hang out for a short while you can get the product for a discount?

I fully expected the price to drop after the holidays, but 2 months after release? And not just a $50 buck discount or some minor price trimming, but a major markdown.

When they release the next major upgrade to the iPhone I will evaluate the price pretty hard now and if it seems high I will wait and let Apple stew on it for a while. I think they are going to regret this decision to do a major markdown so early and anger so many customers.

I guess there is some comfort in the fact they didn't turn loose the 16 gig iPhone today. That would have added insult to injury.

anyone else sick of whiners?

It's your own problem. YOU bought the phone early, YOU dropped the $600 bucks, it was YOUR decision, not Apple's. You all should have known that the price was going to drop. Whether it was earlier than you expected or not doesn't matter. If you're pissed because you bought the phone for $600 bucks the only person you should be whining to is yourself. I question some people in our country who are always pointing their fingers at everyone else instead of themselves. Take some responsibility. ;)

OK now that I've vented a little, I haven't purchased the iPhone yet. I plan on getting one towards the end of november when my current verizon contract is done. I never adopt anything right when it comes out. It's not wise and today is a perfect example of why.

It really surprises me that people are complaining about the price drop. I mean, yeah, it really sucks when you buy something and the price drops so soon after you buy it. Or a new model comes out that makes yours obsolete seemingly overnight. But it happens all the time.

Apple didn't force anyone to pay $599 for an iPhone. They simply offered a product at that price. A lot of people looked at that product, looked at the price, and said to themselves "I think this product is worth $599 to me, so I am going to buy one." A lot of other people looked at the product, and said "nice phone, but it is not worth $599 to me" and they didn't buy one.

If you don't want to pay a certain price for a LUXURY item that you DO NOT NEED, then don't pay the price. If you wait, it'll come down in price. How long do you have to wait? Who knows? Who can tell?

This happens all the time, even outside the electronics industry. Heck, in February of this year, Toyota released the brand new redesigned Tundra pickup. A couple of months later, they announced a $3500 rebate or 0% financing for 5 years on it. Wow, people could have saved thousands if they had just known that was going to happen only a couple months later. Did those people petition for Toyota to give them a refund? I doubt it.

why?

I am more than a bit irritated as well. I bought my phone on iDay, but I never expected them to drop it by $200 after 8 weeks! I expected a price drop after Christmas time. I sort of feel betrayed. They have alienated the Apple die hard fans who were first in line. This stings.
I'm a little confused. Why does it matter you whether or not they dropped the price now as opposed to Christmas time? The only person you should be irritated at is yourself for buying early.;)

Just a friendly reminder, attacks on members of this forum is against forum rules. Although it's not written in the rules, attacks on the forum admin is most certainly against the rules and will result in banishment as was the case with CK2004 who sent me a pretty nasty email. I don't work for Apple and I certainly had nothing to do with the price drop.

stop whining. you bought it. if you weren't willing to drop the $600, which you where because you have it, then you shouldn't have bought it. You have no one to blame but yourself.

I'm really upset. I bought my iPhone 16 days ago and now I can't get it returned/creditted! It's only TWO days off Apple! I heard some people who had no trouble getting credit back. I might try a different store. For right now though, all I can do is petition:

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/iPhone_Price_Cut/
DUDE find the right person to talk to at Apple, they will easily refund. talk to someone nice and sound sad and mad. if its only been 16 days your sure to get a refund.
