I'm thinking of getting the iPhone, but I still have contract time at T-mobile. I understand that buy-out of the contract is 200$. My question is, what happens when I put my iPhone to sync with iTunes and I join with cingular and switch my Tmobile number into a cingular number. Does Tmobile automatically bill me for 200$? Does Tmobile assign that account a different phone number? When I call my number will both my tmobile phone AND my cingular iPhone ring at the same time? Thank you.

you sound confused, i suggest calling t-mobile customer support via 611

as for breaking your contract you have to pay the $200 upfront and pay your final bill at the usual time of the month, your number will be transfered to ATT and your t-mobile sim is deactived, done, no ringing!

I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T. When you buy and activate the iPhone on iTunes, it gives you the option to port your number. By doing that, it let's your iPhone number become your old one and automatically closes your T-Mobile account. The $200 will show on your last bill T-Mobile sends you. Keep both phones on while porting the number. Both phones will kind of work during the 24 hour porting period.
