Just wanted to update this some more, contacted Apple via the email address the emails were sent from earlier and they added a free accessory to my order after I explained the inconvenience this caused me. Overall, satisfied with their customer service on this issue.
As I followup, I don't know if it was the contact information you sent - probably was because the email I got saying my phone would actually arrive on 9/21 came from the same email.

I got both phones yesterday on launch day! I was shocked but they made it happen. The first one arrived at 9:47 in the morning and the second one arrived at 2 pm. Both via UPS. Good thing I took the day off! Thanks again for the info!
