 just had to vent, I have been waiting on ICHAT, flash, cut and paste, deleting multiple emails along with a few other simple but basic and important features since early july after purchasing this freakin phone! is that really too much to ask for Stevie? I'm just stumped at this point, racking my brain as to why these basic features are still not implemented on a $600 device, Christ, what are they thinking?! this latest update SUCKS!

Well, you did get a $100 refund. I do agree, I feel Apple is slow to respond. That is why I choose Tivo over the Apple TV and after TIVO's update last night the DVR rocks.

Just a tip, you may not want to buy a product expecting features that aren't there. When you bought the phone you new the features it had, and you bought it for the features it had.

So stop crying please. Would the updates be nice? Hell yes, but doesent mean you need to throw a fit and create a post with a trashy subject

seriousely, how much are they paying u dude? You are welcomed to tell me to stop crying when I start spending YOUR money. For $600, (well $500) do u really think that is too much to ask for?. Apple obviousely are aware of the fact that the iPhone as was originally sold is a rippoff considering that a $100 mobile phone comes standard with a lot of features missing from the iPhone, The fact that they are constantly updating the device is proof of this, I just don't understand why we cant get basic functionality instead of new ways to purchase mp3's etc. I am a huge Apple fan!, every single laptop I have owned was an Apple, I just don't understand what the heck happened with the iPhone.

Let me know when you find a phone for $100 with even 1/10 the features of the iPhone. For $500 I have a device in my POCKET that can replace my laptop on businesss trips. It also has loads more features then ANY other phone on the market. The newest Verizon phone is more expensive then the iPhone and is crap.

Look, I agree that these features should be implemented, but I don't think you have the right to be pissed off if they aren't. You knew what you bought, you new what features it would have, you knew how much it costs.

What a horrible injustice you have suffered. My heart truly goes out to you, for being forced against your will to buy an iPhone.

I would suggest returning the iPhone and purchasing one of the aforementioned $100 phones. You will be much happier and healtheir in life.

Life is way too short to be so miserable and to let a simple cell phone completely ruin your life.

Best to you and yours, hope the rest of your day goes much better.

Threadstarter actually has a point.

This update is meaningless, and it's a trick to be honest. The whole purpose for the update is really to have people anxious enough to just go ahead and do it, deleting our third party apps without notice.

We were fooled by the company that cost us $400 & tax.

Listen Steve, If u go back and read my post carefuly you took what I typed out of context. I will give the iPhone props on being a very cool, unique and revolutionary device. Web browser is the best I have used so far on any mobile phone, and email is great but after you look beyond the cool factor....what? A $100 dollar phone may not have all the features that the iPhone has, My point was that it lacked a lot of basic funtionallity that other much cheaper devices comes with as standard features which I find very odd. I'm hoping that by voiceing my concerns as a customer you will take into consideration what applications and features most of us would benefit from in an update.

thank u Mr. Jobs

While I understand the concept, you are exaggerating the features.

Stocks? The average iPhone owner could care less.
Youtube? It's slow as hell.
Maps? Um, okay. I drive a BMW with a navigation system.

What else is there that other phones lack? In fact, the iPhone is somewhat outdated. Answer this question for me:

Out of all the phones ($200+) to come out the last, let's say three years.......iPhone aside, which ones, if any, don't have instant messenger? Good luck with your search for that information.

What do you people expect? A whole new interface? The iPhone works great, and you bought it KNOWING the features it had. How was the update pointless? Pointless because it did not give you the exact features you wanted?
  • iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store
  • Louder speakerphone and receiver volume
  • Home Button double-click shortcut to phone favorites of music controls
  • Space bar double-tap shortcut to intelligently insert period and space
  • Mail attachments are viewable in portrait and landscape
  • Stocks and cities in Stocks and Waether can be re-ordered
  • Apple Bluetooth Headset battery status in the Status Bar
  • Support for TV Out
  • Preference to turn off EDGE/GPRS when roaming internationally
  • New Passcode lock time intervals
  • Adjustable alert volume
Seems like a lot of improvements to me, especially considering most updates for other electronics say:
  • Bug fixes
You guys need to go sell your phones and move on, stop the complaining. You KNEW what you were buying, no one held a gun to your head and told you to buy it.

kinda rude for Apple to release an "update" that breaks all 3rd party apps and free ringtones, and the only major benefit is to add something for giving Apple even more money (iTunes over WiFi).
I will keep buying CDs and avoid purchasing ANYTHING through iTunes if they keep this up. I have NEVER purchased music over iTunes (except for the free songs), and if they keep this up I never will purchase anything from iTunes...

the 3rd party apps fill all the major holes that Apple forgot on the iPhone. breaking them with the "update" is a step backwards IMHO. they should reward the people out there developing software to make the iPhone better and not freeze them out with each "update"

The only thing useful there = double tap & phone volume. And, the phone volume was probably the worst I've ever experienced, so that was a MUST to be fixed.....not something to get props for.

I can't believe some people actually buy songs from the iTunes store. That's hilarious. Why would ANYONE want or need access to the Wi-Fi store? You can get all of that stuff for free without the hassle.

If you put together the ADDITIONS and SUBTRACTIONS of the new update, then you'll see the true meaning......it's very negative, and the reason why 95% of the people who downloaded the update would opt not to go back to 1.0.2 if the opportunity is presented.

Do u think when I was looking into purchasing the phone I was examining the box for features like
cut and paste
lets see umm .....deleting more than one email at a time?
I assumed standard stuff like this would be on there!
The iPhone is nice but I'm convinced that anyone posting on behalf of how perfect this device is has to be working or somehow affilliated with Apple!

Let's make sure you remember to say this is YOUR opinion, cause the way you worded things makes it seem like a firm statement of accepted truth.

"The only thing useful there = double tap & phone volume"

Well maybe in your opinion. A lot of people have been waiting for video out, a lot of people have wanted to be able to play .wav and .mp3 email attachments. Every single update there benefits a lot of people, maybe not you, but guess what? The iPhone wasn't designed for you.

Oh yes and another thing, no one is forcing you to update, it is YOUR choice. You want your mods, then don't update....simple as that.

So many useless complaints, people just want it all!

Then sell the iPhone that you so much despise and get a free phone. The iPhone most likely will never please you. Seriously.
That makes little sense, as he was already pleased with his iPhone till he applied the update.

Well it certainly seems that Apple can do nothing right from the way people are posting in here. This update was so big (file size) because the all of the code was encrypted now as is the iPod Touch. The Touch has not been cracked yet and now the iPhone will be just as hard. If and when it does get cracked, those who decide to hack their phone or mod it will be in the same boat as each update gets released. We will then have all these people posting these same old tired threads and it will never end.
