In preparation for the next iPhone , I have started cleaning up my iTunes / iCloud library's . . I have dozens of free apps that I currently have on my phone but rarely use. Should I delete the apps from iTunes and download the ios6 versions from the app. store or just wait for updates .

This can really apply not only to new iPhone upgrades, but regular ol' spring cleaning. If you're not using them much, and they don't have any data that you need to keep, I'd say go ahead and delete them now. You can always redownload them later if you want (unless the app has been removed from sale, like VLC player or HandyLight, or is by a developer whose app store membership has expired).

Apps for which you are specifically waiting for an update to take advantage of an iOS 6 feature, well, you'll need to keep those in your library and/or on your phone to be able to see when the update is available, unless you plan on periodically checking the app store page for that app yourself.

Makes sense Fury . I have no trouble removing the FaceBook app. It is terrible and ios6 will have FB integration .
