My desktop gadget countdown timer is still counting down to June 11th, but I think we'll know something before then. It'll have to leak out of the Cingular system before then. Too many entry level employees for something not to leak out.
Yeah, I would not be surprised if info leaks from Cingular. Unfortunately if they don't officially confirm it we won't be able to distinguish fact from fiction. For example, look at all of the release dates that have already leaked from Cingular. Maybe we will get lucky and the info will leak from so many different Cingular sources that it becomes obvious that it is more than rumor.

For now I with you in that I am leaving my countdown timer set to June 11th. Even if we hear the release date before then, I am sure more details regarding the iPhone will come out during Steve's keynote so it is a date to look forward to :).

Peter Oppenheimer, CFO and SVP of Apple, said at least twice (possibly more) that the iPhone will be launched in late June in the Q2 conference call. Audio can be found at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/earningsq207/. This is consistent with the June 29th launch which is the claim by AT&T employees.
No offense, but the term "late" is subjective. No where has it been defined by either AT&T or by Apple. All that's been said is "late June." To me that's like saying "afternoon"--is that 12:01 PM, 2 PM, 4 PM? You don't know. April 18 could be late June, since June has 30 days and thereforee the "middle" of June would be the 15th. Anything after that could be defined as "late." But again, that's supposition. BTW, I'm not saying anyone has said the 18th--it was just an example.

Why would I take offense? Late June knocks out all the June 11 and June 15 dates people were tossing around and gives people a better idea of when the iPhone will come out.
