So I just got back from my AT&T store where I bought my iPhone last Thursday. I was issued a differential refund + tax... $210 total. Am I pleased... you better believe it! Right behind me in line were two guys getting a $100 credit for their earlier purchase.

So I don't know how Apple stores are doing things... but the AT&T side hooked me up and now I'm all giggly. :) Time for some accessories... Jawbone website... here I come!

While I am glad for you, I really don't see the point of people giving kudos to either AT&T or Apple when they were within the return window anyway. What's next, "I want to thank Apple because I just bought an iPhone, and they didn't charge me $599!"

Worst case scenario you people could have returned the phone outright and paid a restocking fee. A 14 day price guarantee is nothing to congratulate over, IMO.

The people truly affected by this did not buy their iPhones within two weeks.

Point taken, I suppose it seems like a victory for me because yesterday they were only willing to credit my AT&T bill, which is not even close to the same thing as a refund.

Credit my AT&T bill!

If you had a $200 credit on your bill, it would be same as giving you cash. The $200 you don't have to send to AT&T you can do with as you please.
I would love it if AT&T would credit my bill for anything! We have 4 lines, two of which are iPhones..

I'm inclined to disagree, consider... a $200 credit on my ATT bill will include all applicable taxes, fees and surcharges... so when it's all said and done, I would only get about $160 or less of actual "airt time" credit. So no I don't think it's the same as a $210 cash refund.

Would this work if I bought my iPhone on Ebay? The guy who sold it on Ebay included the receipt that he got when he purchased the iPhone however it has his name on the receipt and phone number. Does the ATT store check this?

That's a good question... and I honestly don't know "THE" answer. My return involved them putting the credit directly back on my card so in my case yes. The bigger question I would ask is... what is the date on that receipt? That will be the key factor. You may want to call your local Apple store and ask about this circumstance.

Worst case scenario... you send it back to the original seller, he refunds your full price and then he takes it back to Apple. You may wish to check the terms of sale for Ebay very closely to see if you have recourse through them.
