I am a little skeptical on whether to go to a ATT or Apple Store to purchase my phone. The plus going to an Apple store is that they will carry more iPhones. The downside is that I'm afraid Apple will lack knowledge of rates and plans. ATT stores will def know what they are doing but might lack availability. Please put in your 2 cents in so everyone will be at the right place at the right time...

How hard is it to decide on a voiceplan? You choose how many minutes you want based on your current usage. The data plan will be simple, because I really think there's only going to be one (Unlimited).

I will be going to a att&t store, mostly because the Apple stores in my area are admitting they are expecting a mob..And the At&t store isn't... So they say!

Where I live, the AT&T stores ALREADY have mobs in them, and this was YEARS before the iPhone was even announced. lol

I don't even wanna THINK about the 29th @ my local stores...

I suspect it won't make much differeance in the end as both stores _should_ be properly equipped, trained, and setup to handle any customer. If you think your situation is unusal in some way it won't hurt to stop in to a store the day or two before hand and talk wit the sales people and then decide where to purchase based on their answers.

What you need to ask yourself is if you an existing AT&T customer? Are you a new customer? Porting an old number?

The answers to those questions whould tell you whether to go to the Apple store and an AT&T store.

Personally for myself I will be porting an old number which I suspect might be a little unusual for the Apple store folks to handle so I will be going to the an AT&T store. I have three stores already identified that are somewhat near me. On Saturday the 23rd I will be visiting all three stores, talking to the sales reps. I will be looking for a nice friendly rep who seems to know that they are doing. I will get copies of all the paperwork to take home and fill out ahead of time. I will make a big enough impressions that the guy remembers me the following week. Thats my plan anyway.

good plan. I don't think you will have to fill out any paperwork though. Most of that is done in the computer by the sales rep now. There will be a contract for you to sign, but that will be at closing only.

for me it will depend on the information yet to be released.. if current customers will be excluded, i will be adding a line.thus going to a AT&T store...
But all the At&t stores are saying different things!

I don't think current At&t customers will be excluded, but with all the conflicting stories coming out, I can see where you might get that idea.

Either way.. i will have one on release day... it took a lot of manipulating to get the day off.. chefs don't have normal lives! A fellow chef recently took a day to go to a sporting event.. and i held that over him like a bad threat to get him to cover me!

Good to have those options. At a time like this, you need to have a plan in place.

I probably will do Apple. Fortunately the AT&T store is in the same shopping center. I just think I would feel like I was cheating on the Apple Store if i went to AT&T :p

i hate to admit it, but we really do need more information.

it's only two weeks away and we still don't have a lot of info we would need t make a decision.

next week i'll call the local AT&T store and ask about their numbers (quantity)...my plan is to (on release day) go to the AT&T store in the morning on the off chance they put the phone on sale, if not...go to the nearest Apple store and see what's up.

My plan is still in place to visit on the evening of the 28th to see if there is a line forming. IF not, then I'll check back later in the night. Point is, I'll have all my stuff in the trunk if I see anyone start forming a line, that way I won't get shut out on release day.

for some reason, i really have a hard time believing that there are going to be overnight lines...for a couple reason. early morning lines? probably. afternoon lines? absolutely.

BUT, i don't want to be the one dork on the outside looking in....so i'll probably check the status out the night before.

Absolutely! With the way the excitement is building, you just never know. Take EiP for instance; it's gotten much busier in here in the last two weeks.
