I was being bored, logged into the AT&T site (I'm a current customer) and went to the 'upgrade phone' link. I know I'm not eligible for an upgrade yet, but what appeared on the right of the screen is what I'm asking about:

Discounts

Your account type qualifies you to the following discounts:
  • Service :8%
  • Equipment :30%
What does that mean? Anyone from AT&T know?
(edit): And if it means what I think it means.. do I get 30% off the iPhone? lol, I know it's a long shot but I must ask. ;)

Are you on a corporate or enterprise plan, or did you apply a corporate discount to your service?

The iPhone won't be available on plans utilizing a corporate discount (not available through businesss channels) so if that is the case, then not only will you not get a discount on the phone, but you will not be able to add it to your current line by extending your contract, either.

No just a regular customer plan.

The only thing I can remotely think of is like 3 years ago I signed up for a discount for the major retail store where I work. (and I'm not a 'big' employee of the retail store.. just a regular job you could get anyday) I get MAYBE $2.50 off per bill. Could that be it? And does that completely disqualify me for getting the iPhone? Because if it does disqualify me, I'll just cancel the discount thing. lol.

Gah I'm nervous.

Attingular said they were changing the way they were going to do equipment renewals. Maybe this means you'll get a 30% discount on the iPhone, so instead of the 8 gigger being $599, it'll only cost you $420.:laugh2:

Let me check my account.

My account says I'm receiving a 19% discount on service (b/c I'm in the military). Do you think this means I won't be able to get the iPhone? I'll be so upset!

No. You should be able to get it as long as you pay your bill and it's in your name. Only corporate customers will be blocked because corporate contracts are negotiated at one time.

I am pretty sure he will be able to get the iPhone. I think the iPhone will not be available for corporate accounts where the is one big corporate account but many lines inside that account that is billed and paid for directly through the big corporation.

At&t Upgrade Advantage

Doesn't really help me much. My main line on my FamilyTalk plan is only $60/month. But this is in addition to any normally posted discounts on upgrade prices.
