Battery Power Question

I have what I believe is an unusual problem. I am sitting in my kitchen with 50% battery power left on my iPhone. I attempt to make a call with barely 1 bar of signal power and every call fails. I attach the sync cable to my computer as if I were going to sync and my signal bars go up to 3 & 4 and every call goes through. I haven't moved. Is it possible that a 50% batter is not enough to power the phone? Thanks for you help.

I'm not sure that's what's causing your problem. My battery is frequently below 50% and the phone works fine.

No but I think that plugin your iPhone increases the antenna strength

I agree, your cable is acting as an antenna when you plug it in. I'd be willing to bet if you further the experiment by unplugging your phone and walking to a point where you have 4 bars or so with less than 50% battery you'll find that it makes calls just fine... it's the signal strength not the battery I believe. :)
