I have personally heard multiple horror stories that the Pleasanton Ca, and Palo Alto Flag Ship Apple Store on University Ave. were telling customers when they call that the stock just came in and if they hurry in they can get one.
I know of an executive that called first, the young lady on the phone said they had just received tons of them and to come on down. He drove over 20 miles to get there only to be told that they were sold out. He over heard two other Apple Store employees saying that they had them but were HOLDING them until Saturday.
Needless to say he was not happy to waste time and gas to go there after being told by the person on the phone that they had “tons” of them. This is not the Apple way, as a certified Apple tech I am ashamed at the Apple Store employees, and they are giving Apple a bad name.
He even went to the Apple Store manager who crossed his arms and admitted they had them and sold their "allotment" for the day. 'm thinking yeah Jobs would really like to hear one of his managers at an Apple store say that. And this is coming from a guy who has over 10K in Apple products, recently purchased a 17" macBook Pro, I told him to take it back and to send a letter to Steve.
If they read this, they should get a clue, this is something Microsoft or Wal-Mart would do. Not classy at all…
