Sometimes it's the new "little things" that Apple does that intrigue and excite me the most (and help me quickly put aside the grief and the hurdles one must endure working with new equipment.)

I happen to be a big U2 fan... just noticed something cool on the iPhone in relation to this... like finding an Easter Egg!

If you've got your iPhone in iPod mode it displays the typical menu at the bottom that iTunes uses to organize your music, and there's an icon to represent each... Playlists, Artists, Songs, Videos, and More.

What's so cool is that Apple has made a new icon to represent "Artists." I kept thinking how familiar it looked and then it hit me... the silhouette was created from that image of U2's "Bono singing at the mic" -- using that still photo we all have probably seen by now that is part of the "U2 iPod" advertising and iPod advertising in general.

C r a z y... so Bono has now become an everyday "button icon" I will use over and over to play music. Talk about integrated marketing... now that's GENIUS.

Attached a little diagram to make this easier to find/understand... or drool at yet another cool factor OOZING from iPhone if you don't have one yet.

I noticed this a while ago, and U2 bothers the hell out of me. Every time I press the Artists button, I get filled with rage and kill three children to spite Bono.

You mean you read this online today? Considering it's been everywhere. I like internet credit takers!

Hey, it was my own observation, dude. Loaded up some U2 songs on the iPhone today and that's when I noticed. (created the image posted too...doh)

Had no idea it was anywhere online... LOL ...but that's cool. Word is getting out quick.

Can't wait to see what else we can find. :)

Can't be Bono - the angle of the microphone is different. I think that icon looks more like Homer Simpson :laugh2:

:p

Was there an old icon before?
Nope. New goodie just for iPhone.

"Artists" has always been listed in the iTunes menu when your Music is highlighted, but they just created the icons for the menu on the iPhone... probably for ease of navigation using the touch screen.

iTunes on iPod doesn't even have the icons.

Good find--

Love lil nugets like that..
I get the feeling there are plenty of those in our iPhone future.
I do wish I was the dude who held that iPhone.com domain name since 85.
I hear he's now a cool One Mill richer these days.
That's what we call a "Come up" in the hood.

Now if only Mr Jobs would check out my "Slide to Unlock" t-shirt that i just designed.
I'm going to wear it during the week throughout L.A and even in some Apple stores to get a reaction.

Check it out.

I think it's a similar image for sure, but the mic has a different slant on the "artists" icon than the picture of bono from the black and red ipod.
