Can I download apps without wireless?

I'm looking to buy and Ipad, and really, I have two questions about the Ipad 2. One, do I need wifi and a phone account to download apps? And two, can I get an adapter for a USB hookup for an Ipad? Can it talk to my PC, for example?

I work for months at a time in places where there's no wireless service, and an Ipad is not much use to me if I can't use a "hardline" USB type connection to download material, either from the internet or from my own computer.

You can download apps and content to your computer and then use the cable that comes with the iPad to connect to your computer and sync the apps over.

But you cannot get the iPad direct internet access through the USB cable, if that's what you're asking. But if you're connecting your laptop to the internet through ethernet, you may be able to set up an "ad-hoc" network between your computer and iPad to share the internet connection.
