I'm curious. If I am browsing the web using Safari, can I make or receive a call on my iPhone?

I believe you would be able to. I mean, you can get one when you are listening to the iPod.

I read somewhere that you can't since you can only have one connection to AT&T open at a time.

Was reading the iPhone manual on Apple and the answer is no. According to the manual if you are using EDGE, ie in the middle of a data stream over the cellular network, and a call comes in it will go straight to voicemail. However if you are on WiFi it will ring through. Apparantly, the iPhone has only one receiver which can be used either for EDGE or a telephone call separately but not at the same time.

Don't know why it doesn't work. When blackberrys show GSM it's phone only, GPRS/EDGE is data and voice. So why doesn't the phone work when surfing the web on EDGE since the phone is
GSM 850 / GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900
