Can't Hear!

Basically, you either return the phone or you're stuck with low volume. I've called Apple several times and had my phone serviced at the store, no luck.
Or you could try things like the other poster suggested and change the volume while on a call, and make sure the plastic screen protector is not covering the earpiece.
Just an opinion, and that's all this is.
There's a lot of people in this world who simply
can not hear, because they've been listening to way too much noise
for way too long.
Not trying to be a smart ass by saying such a thing.
Yes, the volume on the iPhone does seem low compared
to a fire truck.
It does seem low compared to a roaring crowd at a football game.
Yes, it's way too low compared to the neighbors television set.
I was actually thinking about how it'd be nice if the low volume
on the iPhone could possibly play a roll in lowing the volume of the
people talking aloud on phones in public, in general.
You know, it's conceivable, the battery life of the iPhone
was upgraded through doing nothing more, than lowering the maximum speaker output.
Anyone who has studied electronics would be able to tell
you more volume is going to demand more electricity.
So, maybe there's a trade off here.
What do you want from the greatest mobile electronic device
produced in recent modern time?
It's essense, or mere volume?

Um it's a cell phone, if you can't hear during a call it's completely worthless. I'd rather have an hour less battery life and be able to hear whoever the hell I'm talking to on the phone.
I'm pretty sure that people who are complaining about the volume know how to turn up the godamn volume. I mean, have you ever had a cell phone before? If you can't figure out that you have to be in a call to turn up the volume then you're an idiot. Bottom line is the volume is sub-par for a phone of this caliber.
Still no excuse why the volume is terrible compared to almost every other phone on the market.
When people get new gadgets it is easy to get excited and forget the little things.
I have the same issue and the plastic has been removed. I also tried increasing the volume while the caller was online. hmmm
Is it quite possible, that you didn't really by a "cell phone"
when you bought the iPhone?
With so many other features of the device,

This is suppose to be multiple devices in one. If the cell phone doesn't work right, then it's worthless.
I would simply ask for the option to reconcile the speaker volume/battery life ratio as I see fit.
look, something is definitely WRONG with the phone side, as YouTube videos playsignificantly louder over the same video. just tap through your YouTube widget and play the OK GO treadmill video, you'll see just how loud this thing can truly get. my phone side is operating at maybe a 1/5th of that. speakerphone is useless standing in a room with an air conditioner blowing.
