My iPod Nano was stolen - when I replace it will I be able to download the library from my computer directly on to the new iPod?
If not how do I go about recovering all the songs, audiobooks etc for which I have already paid through iTunes?

You should be able to get everything that is in iTunes to your new device. As long as the files are on your computer, you will be able to xfr!

The content you synced on to your device came from iTunes, thereforee when you connect your iPod Nano you can simply sync all the information back to the new one. Easy peasy
