charging the iPhone

I have a question. Does the iPhone still charge if you plug it in then shut it off? And if it does, is that the better way to do it or is it better to do while its in sleep mode.

yes it wil charge when it is powered off. I do not know whether this is a better way to charge...I don't really see a reason why it would be any better. I always wait till my iPhone either runs out of power or is at 5-10% capacity and give it a full charge. To my understanding this is the best way to charge this type of device.

I heard it was best to NOT let it run all the way down..

I also heard that it is better to wait until it dies. Thank you for answering my previous question though, it doesn't say its charging when it is off unlike my razr, thats why i want sure.
