Very nice chess program even though I beat it in easy mode and accidentally underpromoted twice once to a rook and once to a knight. I need to work on my microfingertype promotion skills!

This is awesome. I've been playing ichess this whole time dreading all of the bugs with their system. If only shredderchess had as beautiful of themes as ichess http://ichess.morfik.com/ , I would be in heaven. I Also would love a two player mode so I can play my co-workers.

I used shredder daily on iGoogle games and loved it. I liked being able to do a couple puzzles daily. It seemed to be the cleanest looking chess online. As soon as I got my phone I went to see if shredder mobile would work. Two or three days later I noticed shredder on an application search engine. I have to say I was glad you guys got this running on iPhone. So if anyone plays chess this is the one you want to use!

I just purchased the Shredder Chess app and I must say it is really nice. It is also the one chess game that has received many high accolades from its users. I'm mostly a novice player. What I love about this app is that it will 'dumb' itself down to your level until you gain the skills and then it will gradually raise the bar making itself more challenging by increasing your Elo score. It plays very much like a human would play. It is pricey though at $9.99, but if you are looking for the best chess app out there, this one ranks at the top.

EDIT:

Oops...I guess this thread started before there was an App Store from Apple. Mods, please move to App section if you wish.

I love chess. I'll have to play one of you online sometime.
"Chess With Friends" is free. No AI at all... you play either random people online or you can find people by name. Many of us have been playing "Words With Friends" by the same company and their system works great. You can set up email alerts when it's your turn if desired.

Not to knock this game. But if you want to play real people, I'd go for the free one.

I suck at chess so for me I would rather play the AI, until my skills get better. Nice to know they have a free chess game you can play with real people though.
