Here's a cool little thing I "discovered" yesterday. If you are using your phone, and call a contact from your list - you will see your selected wallpaper in the background - behind the speakerphone/keypad/etc..

However, if you TAKE a picture of someone and ADD it to their contact info - the picture will become the background when you call that person!

Very, very cool! Of course, now you have to hunt down everyone in your address book and take a snap of them!

Have fun with this one (if you haven't stumbled upon it already!)

I wish you could see a little thumbnail pic on your contact list just like in the album page. It would also be neat to see a CoverFlow view of your contact list.

The CoverFlow idea would be awesome! Seeing as how Apple is integrating CoverFlow into the new version of Leopard, maybe there is hope to see this feature added to the iPhone?

Actually, this "feature" applies to any picture assigned using the phone itself rather than assigning a contact image on the Mac and/or PC and then syncing that contact's info over. What I did was make an iPhoto album called "Caller ID" and put the full-size photos of all my contacts in there. I then syned that album over to the iPhone and used it as the source for assigned photos for each contact that I wanted a larger image for.

HTH!

another quick note to add to this. Once you have assigned a picture to a contact you DO NOT need to kep the picture on the phone. You contact list will store the photo separate from YOUR photos so if you want to clear them out for room feel free.

Where are the contact photos stored? I don't see them in my albums. Isn't there anyway I can upload/email my contact photos? I have one contact photo that's amazing but it's totally locked out from using it in any way because it's a contact photo. I don't get it!

Yeah, most phones these days display the picture of the person you're talking to either during the call or when they're calling, provided you have a picture uploaded. Having it become the whole background is pretty cool though.
