On Monday, I entered all of my e-mail contacts into my iPhone. I was careful to label the work e-mail addresses as "work" and the home e-mail addresses as "home." Yesterday I charged and sync'd my phone for the first time since entering all of the e-mail addresses and now they are all showing up as labeled "other." For any contacts that had two addresses, it appears one has just disappeared and only one address remains labeled "other." Any similar experiences or suggestions?

My initial problem was that emails from my Outlook contacts list came over not as emails, but "label". They wouldn't function - clickie no workie. I'd have to edit each account, add the same email as an email, and delete the "label" email. About half the time, the contacts app would crash and return me to the home screen. I disabled the Contact syncing, cleaned up my contacts manually on the iPhone, and declared it good. I'm just dealing with whatever issues I find until patches come out.

So, to answer your question, I'm postulating that you entered 'em into the iPhone, then sync'ed. In syncing, you sync'ed your contacts as well. They went to your pc Contacts, but didn't map over properly - and then came back to the iPhone because the software found the newly updated contacts. That hosed up your existing ones. Just a guess. I've turned off my Contact syncing.

It is. When you plug in your iPhone, you get your iPhone screen on iTunes. You're on the Summary tab by default - switch it to the Info tab. You'll see your individual syncing options. Uncheck the Contacts.
