im having trouble moving my contacts from my old phone to the iPhone. I went to the store and they took my phone plugged it in and gave me a flash drive to hook up to the compter and move the contacts via iTunes. I put the flash drive in, plug in the iPhone and nothing happens.....what do i do to move these?

I don't think you can do it that way. Your contacts need to get into Address Book first, then when you sync your iPhone (via iTunes) it copies them to the phone. Luckily I already had most of my contact in Address Book on my mac so I just manually typed in new ones.

If your old phone has bluetooth you may be able to sync your contacts to your computer (i.e., Address Book) without having to put them in manually.

The thumb drive they gave you has all your contacts within a .pbb (phonebook) file. This file can be extracted using Content Manager and exported to a file Outlook or Outlook Express can then use to import to iPhone through iTunes. Here are the details from AT&Ts support pages.

Option III - not applicable to customers running Mac OS
Migrate contacts using tools available at your local AT&T store. If you have visited an AT&T store and saved your contacts & phone numbers to a USB flash drive, follow these steps to upload them into Outlook or Outlook Express, then synchronize to iTunes and iPhone.
NOTE: If you need assistance with any of the steps below, please contact the appropriate group:
  • For contacts stored on the USB drive, please contact an AT&T store.
  • For computer related support, please contact your computer manufacturer, your internal IT department, or Microsoft.

  8. Once installed, open Content Manager.
  9. Select Contacts > Open Phonebook.
  10. Select .pbb file that you just saved to your PC.
