Not sure exactly which one they use, but Customer Service would be the people to ask. When I worked with Cingular, we would do the application in the computer and it would tell us whether or not the customer was clear or whether they needed a deposit. The deposit could be as much as $800 for someone with shaky credit, but they get that back after a year of paying their bill on time. What average credit scores do they want to get approved with zero deposit and which bureau do they use? I was an indentity theft victim and have Trans and Equifax cleaned up but Experian is much more stubborn

Only if they release it as a Go Phone pre-paid phone as well. Then you can 1000 minutes ($100) that's good for 365 days.Would they let you pay your bill 1 year in advance?
Does anyone know if there is a way to check your credit status, to see if they will let me sign up for cell service? Is there a way to do this through AT&T without actually purchasing service yet? I ask because I would hate to get all worked up about the iPhone, wait in line for it, and not be able to get one.
Wow, that is wonderful news! Thank you so much for the info, I will definitely be visiting my local store to check that out this week.you can go to any AT&T/cingular corporate store, and they will run your credit for you to see if you have to pay a deposit. you can do this anytime without purchasing anything. they will keep your information in their system for 3 months. thats a good thing for you, because if your score changes for the worst you will atleast be good for 3 months. but i was having the same issue. so i went in there the other day, and they told me i had good credit and didn't need a deposit. so im happy nothing showed up on my report, and im happy they have that in their system for 3 months just incase something changes. and also you can go to any AT&T/cingular corporate store anywhere and they will have your information in their system.
what if you are porting your number from another company, do they still run your credit?I have no credit what so ever and my deposit is going to be $150.
That's because they know that if you skip out on your bill, they can just take it anyway. LOLWhen I first got my verizon phone, I had to put down about 100 beans. 2 months later I signed up Automatic Payment online and I got a check for the 100$ back.
