I got Datacase and it doesn't seem to be working for me. I have Window XP & I do have a wifi connection. I followed the instructions on their website. I get an error about a proxy being set. I'll post that error later today when I get home.

Why do all of these apps require a wireless connection and just USB? IMO I would find this more practical if I could sunc via USB. Don't get me wrong, I would use the WiFi connection as well. Say if I am at home, I would be able to sync up a via via WiFi, but when I get to campus I won't be able to get the file to the campus computers.

I bet Apple wants only iTunes to have access to the iPhone USB.

The only other thing I can do is add and delete photos on the iPhone using Windows Explorer.

i purchased datacase and it works perfectly for me with my vista laptop.

make sure you use file explorer (windows explorer...not the browser) and type in ftp://xxx.xxx.x.x:xxxx that is listed in your iPhones datacase main screen for you to access the shared drive on your iPhone

It finally worked. What did it for me was NOT putting in that final "/" after the ip address. Yay! :laugh2:

Damn. I wanted to put a .mov on Datacase since I can't play it through normal iTunes. But, Datacase says it's not supported either. Pooh. :(
I have DataCase and I'm loving it. I have a Vista laptop and an XP desktop and both are working-- they have a tutorial video for Windows users up on the veiosoft.com website.

I think your .mov problem might be that the resolution is too high or some other file characteristic is unacceptable.

Try this-- http://www.brothersoft.com/downloads/mov-to-iphone.html
It's free and the reviews look good. I don't have a preferred widget for solving these format/file problems, I just download a few when I have an issue and one usually works. Might check download.com too.

I eventually converted my .mov to the iPhone format using Videora. I was hoping the .mov would play through DataCase but I guess I was getting my hopes up too high.

I just got DataCase also. Works fine. Now I can have my larger PDF files with me on the iPhone. Cool. I hope they will soon implement some navigation functions like "Find" and "bookmarks" within the PDF viewer. Without that I am lost trying to page through 600 pages, page by page. Ouch...

yes it should work as long as there is WiFi where you are trying to do this. I am not that familiar with Datacase. This looks like it will work. If it doesn't, I am sure you can return it. Double check on the return policy and make sure that their isn't a restocking fee.

I believe this is used for desktops and laptops to access an existing wi-fi signal. Not the other way around. I don't think you can connect this to a computer with a LAN internet connection and transmit the internet over wi-fi.
So what you are saying is that you will either have to have one or the other, correct?

Isn't that what this USB WiFi connector does? I might be a little confused ats to what this product actually does.
