Got the Ecamm Network iPhoneDrive software today and it seems to work as advertised. Easily copy and store files on my phone. Only tried a few test files, but it looks good to me. Not a sales pitch, just some useful software that looks like it does something I really wanted...

Anyone else using this?

No but this one is free haven't tried it but maybe worth looking at before the iPhone upgrades come out, which will enable disk use like the iPod.

Can you access the files you copy from within iPhone? If not, then what is the purpose of this application? Does it just make your iPhone into an expensive thumb drive?

I'd love to be able to copy Word docs to the iPhone for reading later, but this doesn't seem to be able to do that.

No, it's less than an 'expensive thumb drive' because you need the program on your mac to access the files....but I like storing some files on my phone, just to have a copy where I can get them if I need them. No real utility, except as transfer or backup. But I have thrown away files I wanted once or twice or wiped a hard drive on occasion and wished I had a couple of crucial files, and my phone is a good place to store small docs, etc.

I am sure this functionality will come soon from Apple or another program, but I have no problem giving a small amount of cash to companies that are working to develop software for the iPhone. Keep 'em coming, I say.
