I definitely use mine. It's a little bit of a nuisance, but I think Apple did it well. Now if it could just ready my thumbprint that would be nice. ;)

You have to! The iPhone attracts so much attention and people love to play with one that is not theirs. I lock mine so if people find it around my house, they cannot get into it.

haha yes I do, there's no way iam letting other people use my phone without me knowing, also that fingerprint idea... Do you think that could be possible since this is a touch screen and all, a fingerprint unlocking would be amazing.

i love to use it, but sometimes if you or somebody press a wrong password way too many times, it will lock up the phone for minutes to hours, that could be bad. =(

O.K. When I first got mine on iDay, I used the password lock. Then it felt like a nuisance because I had to log my password each time I use it. So I stopped using it since I guard my iPhone like a Doberman. After I read someone's iPhone was stolen in a coffee shop, I started using it again. Your responses are very encouraging!

I don't use mine, since it's kind of a PITA. What I'd really like is an app that I could put sensitive data into (account numbers, passwords, etc.), that would encrypt the data and then only open with a password. That way, I could use my iPhone without the keylock for my everyday stuff - looking up calendar, phone calls, etc., yet still feel secure if my iPhone were lost or stolen, since my sensitive data would be encrypted.

Has anyone every used eWallet from the smartphone/pocket pc world? That's an app that I sorely miss. It's a lot easier to have, say, my 9 year old's social security number on my PDA when I have to fill out some school form. But right now, even with the keylock, I would never put sensitive data on the iPhone.

I am using the lock on my iPhone.

Another good idea which has been mentioned in other threads, but not this one yet, is to create a custom wallpaper with contact information of the owner of the phone. Remember if the iPhone is locked a person will be hard pressed to know who to return it to even if they are honest.

My wallpaper reads the following at the top in large type, "REWARD IF FOUND" and then my home phone number.

At the bottom my phone reads in small but still legible type "If lost or stolen the IMEI number of this phone will be reported to the police and banned from reactivation."
