I have had a Mac for 12 months now. Also have gotten on board with iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple tv. I am excited every time I get a new product...but I just can't quite seem to get the hang of them. Everyone says theyre the best, so I definitely assume I am the problem. It must be the 20 years of using PC products?

I just switched to a Mac about nine months ago and I couldn't be happier. I've also had an iPhone for 2 1/2 years and plan on getting an Apple TV soon. What kind of problems are you having or what can't you get the hang of?

^This.

Thing is a mac isn't a PC and that is where a lot of people who switch go wrong. You have to embrace change and go with the flow and then you'll be happier.

The items I'm having trouble with are the following. I can't figure out:
1. How to get purchased music from iPhone to Mac without erasing from iPhone
2. How to get iPhone to visually/silently alert me when I get an email
3. How to view the calendar as a weekly view in iPhone
4. How to delete songs from iPhone
5. How to use Apple tv for anything
6. How to delete a character in Word on the Mac
7. How to have the Home page on the iPhone turn to landscape
8. How to transfer music from iPod-iphone-iPad

Thanks!

1. Right click on your device in iTunes and click "transfer purchases".

2. For the visual badge on the Mail App icon: Under Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars set "Fetch New Data" to Push (may take more tweaking depending on your mail account) For the silent part go to Settings>Sounds>New Mail>Off

3. The stock mail app doesn't offer a week view, should be coming with iOS5. There are 3rd party apps that have this feature, have a look at GooCal.

4. This is controlled in iTunes and there are different ways to control what music is and isn't synced to your device, too many to cover in a short answer. Typically you would uncheck playlists, artists, albums, and songs you don't want to sync. We can cover more details on this later.

5. Sorry can't help
6. Ditto
7. Feature not available on a stock device. Requires a jailbreak if there is even a tweak to do that.
8. Someone else will be better equipped to field this one, I only have one of these devices. Typically each device is handled separately in iTunes. iOS5 will be changing this somewhat.

Personally, this list is so disparate I feel each question should be in its own thread. I also don't see what the Mac has to do with almost all of them: it's an iPhone issue not Mac.

The Mac keyboard has only a "delete" key, which does the same this as a backspace key on a PC. To "forward delete" on a Mac you hold the "fn" key while pushing the "delete" key.

Think you meant shift key. Fn does nothing with the delete key on my mac keyboards.

Ah. I stand corrected. When using the Mac keyboard on the Windows 7 partition I use the fn/delete combo. I spaced out that Op was actually using Mac keyboard on Mac OSX!

Hmmm. I just rebooted into Mac OSX (Lion) and discovered that to forward delete I had to use fn + delete. Shift+ delete did nothing. I wonder if there is a setting somewhere controlling this. In any event it works the same for me on both Lion and Win7 using the same keyboard (bt wireless) on both systems (I need as little confusion as possible O_o).
