So I read this three times. The first two I was reading in my normal Kevin voice in my head. Full of sarcasm. The third time I realized you might be serious. Then I went back to sarcasm. Either way. Very good post.

I think.
Nope. No sarcasm in that post. I don't do sarcasm very well, as you forum old-timers know.

Kevin it is good to have you back. I know it is short lived but you are making this craziness tolerable. :)
I figured I should be around here for the iPhone 5 launch and delivery day. Besides, I remember how drunk and unruly you can get around these times, so I may as well throw my support to Chris and the mods, heheh.

Maybe illusion was not all that wrong. No I didn't call to make fun of them, I got better things to do, just to ask why it's been 3 days on preparing for shipment, and if I'm gonna get it late, I have to give the 4S to the person that bought it by Saturday. So the dude on the shipping department told me that once the phone leaves the wearhouse I'll get a tracking number so I shouldn't worry, I asked, how come then some people have been able to track their packages using reference while they never received a tracking number?
He goes "what? I've never heard of that, you can't track it unless we send you a tracking number, no tracking number, no phone has been shipped"

Thanks for your time sir, you're doing an amazing job (y)

These people should know MORE than us. I loved it when she said the amount of RAM was proprietary.

They may know more than us. They may not. The point is they are not permitted to tell you certain things even if they know. What's so hard to understand about this? I just don't get the amazement over the secrecy that Apple is famous for.

Agreed! It's not even just Apple! I am a network engineer at a well known switch and router manufacturer and we don't even tell you which ASIC we use.

Oh and illusion, maybe she just got the words confused and meant to say undisclosed or classified instead of proprietary.

I found the original posts pretty funny, however......
We hang out on these sites and eat, sleep and breathe anything Apple and we do it because (for the most part) it's a hobby or a fun passion. We (not me) know most everything there is to know about the product. That said, these people are doing it as a JOB. They most likely don't have the passion that we do and are simply going by what they're trained to say to the other 95% of "Joe Public".
I can give you another few examples. I love watches, knives, Dodge 4x4's, etc, etc. I can talk for hours on end about these topics (and do on other forums) but that's because I choose to spend my free time there and the topics intrigue me. When I went in to buy a watch from a jeweler it shocked me that I knew more about the item than they did.
In short (let's be honest, this was NOT short) : job for them, passion for us. Give 'em a little bit of a break if they don't know as much as you (we) do.

;)

I found the post funny, I wont lie. However I wouldn't call the person on the other end of the chat session, 'dumb'.

The person who dealt with the OP probably had about 3-4 conversations on the go and was probably extremely busy and may or may not have been trained correctly i.e Apple being Apple may have hired extra staff in preparation for the new iPhone 5 launch.

Needless to say, it is annoying when someone who doesn't fully know what they're talking about because they try to blag it and go around in circles. Rather than make an issue of it, get through to someone else that actually can help you rather than wasting your own time and theirs.

My thoughts exactly. Also, kudos for using the word "blag" and being from Manchester. It reminded me of Philip Glenister.
