This needs to be addressed in a future update! As a nightclub promoter and DJ, in addition to Myspace and email, I send out mass SMS texts to my contacts lists at least once or twice a week. There doesn't appear to be a way to select multiple names, unlike every other mobile I've used. This is gonna be a real inconvenience - APPLE, HEED MY CALL!

(Other than that I love this phone more than any other computer, phone or gaget ever!)

i agree completely. i am about to test it through using an email account. that might work as a solution until they get us a fix.

All I did was manually select the names, but that is slow. There's a way to do it in Mail on our Macs, so there must be a way to select a group. I just haven't seen it yet.

Are you saying you can select more than one contact for a single message, even manually? I can only select one, and without even c/p functions available, Id have to retype the message each time... or am I missing something?

txting through mail

iPaul I believe the people above are talking about adding a e-mail entry with each person's phone e-mail to all of your contacts and sending mass text messages through the mail app. For instance for all your AT&T contacts you'd need a e-mail like this: phonenumber@txt.att.net. I've tried this and it works. It is a pain trying to figure out which mobile service provider all of your contacts have and adding a e-mail to each contact. Also I don't really know what is the maximum number of people you can send a message to through the mail app. However, this is a viable (albeit painful) workaround until they fix this. And there is also the benefit of not having to pay for each individual text message.

I agree that the lack of copy/paste is nuts as is the inability to send a text message to more than one person at a time. I tried the phonenumber@txt.att.net thing in email and it didn't work. (I included the 1, maybe that's why.) [Ok, dropping the 1 worked. But replies come in as emails and not sms. Oh well.]

I find it funny reading all these threads about copy/paste and SMS.

I don't text at all, so I don't care about what's there and what isn't.

Of course, if I see a URL in a webpage that's really long and isn't hyperlinked, then yeah I would like copy and paste. But other than that, I have no use for it.

I still hope for an update though. Carry on.

THERE IS A SOLUTION!

The 3rd party application weTool allows single Call History and SMS History deleting and on top of that SMS FORWARDING.

Their SMS Forwarding is great as not only does it look good but you are allowed to send to send Mass SMS Messages. I have not tried with too many but I was able to send 15 messages to different people on different carriers and they all received it.

It should work for you.

SMSd doesn't require forwarding anymore. Fire the first SMS off to as many people as you like.

HA! funny to see these old threads get dug up...

And yes, here we are 6mo later and I have indeed installed SMSD and use it almost every day! What a relief!

Thanks to the dev teams for all the great apps and updates over the last few months....

And Apple, thanks for the greatest phone ever and a device that's changed my life... but you get the gasface for not coming through on the update front.

Thanks for the link, but why would we do a website when there are third party apps (weTool, SMSd) that now do mass texting? And we've been talking about them?
We've been here before in another thread haven't we? :laugh2:

Some people don't like to jailbreak. I was giving them another option.

Oh, I forgot. Still don't understand those people *shrugs*

By the way, that website only does 10 people at a time for mass texting. But I guess it's the best thing you got without jailbreaking...
