For whatever reason my email has been very weird ever since the firmware update. Sometimes I can receive but ever since the update I can no longer send email. I've deleted my account and re-entered all of my server, user, and pw stuff and nothing seems to work. It works fine on my PC though so I'm guessing its definitely a problem with my phone. I also tried it on wifi and edge.. same results. I have no idea what is wrong. I am doing a restore now to see if that fixes it.

It's funny: email is much zippier for me since the update. There was a known lag before the update where emails take a couple of secs to be displayed. Now it's gone. Sorry about your problems.

My email is working fine. The "push" feature doesn't work all the time, but i don't believe that has to with the phone. I believe that is a yahoo issue.

Grrr it just worked ONCE and now its back to being SCREWED again.. I didn't even touch any settings. ARGHH!

UPDATE: Ok it seems as though I can only send email to myself. If I try to send an email to anything other than my own account I get the "The connection to the outgoing server "mail.myserver.com" failed." This is VERY weird.

I don't think it's related to the update. Ever since I got my iPhone I've had trouble with outgoing IMAP SMTP. Sometimes I can send, sometimes I can't. Same settings, but it'll tell me I've got them wrong and then 20 minutes later it'll send just fine. Not sure if it's an iPhone issue or if IMAP is just being crappy.

Same here, outgoing email is awful since the update. Most of the time the outgoing won't even work. I wish I never did it.

After the update, I had the same problem. I checked the mail account settings on the phone and saw that my outgoing mail server user name and password was no longer there. I retyped it in and outgoing mail worked again right away.

hope this helps...

This update is def causing issues with email. Mine worked flawless until the update! Now it hangs forever when sending mail. I have also had multiple crashes and my phone lock up when trying to slide and unlock for use just as the other user had. I must say Apple did not do sufficient testing before pushing this update. I hope they get it right and soon.

I AGREE. My iPhone isn't functional anymore. Meanwhile i wait for Apple's support return call. And here lies the problem, everyone was chomping at the bit for an update with new features. I would much much rather Apple just did the work correctly and not introduce regressions in the product. This first update is a disaster - if they keep this up i know where the future of the iPhone will be - in my bin! Short cuts are NOT the answer. I expect good engineering out of Apple with good quality assurance.

Don't get me wrong - get product. But here is the formulaic problem:

Great Product + Buggy updates = Lousy Product.

I have had problems with email lately as well. I would read my emails the phone automatically marks it as read. A few mins later I get "new mail chime" and the emails I just read is marked unread.

Did not do this before the update. It happened twice already.

send mail lags

before update send lags, after update send lags. If I want sent mail to show in sent folder I have to go send folder and push.. Why is my old sidekick still better? Why is the iPhone not working 100% . Please Apple solve this email issue, its the one thing that non iPhone peoples keep reminding me about. You can't know for sure..
