Email Notification without Email

This JUST started happening today. I keep getting the new email notification, even though there aren't any new emails. I haven't hacked my phone with the exception of custom ringtones via iphontringtonemaker. I've soft and hard reset my phone but it still happens.

Any insights?

Check your email from your desktop/laptop...see if this unread message appears there also. sometimes emails get sent showing a different date and it cant be seen in the first 50 messages or so...

The message did show up in my inbox, but somehow, all of my emails have been deleted from the gmail server. I went on my PC and they were all in my trash folder.

Ok, now I have no clue what's going on.

When I checked my gmails on my PC, all of emails were no longer in the inbox. Everything automatically gets sent to the trash folder.

I also lost every email folder on my iPhone with the exception of inbox. Sent, trash, and drafts are gone. I performed a restore, but that didn't fix the problem either....
