Has anyone had issues with the iPhone rebooting randomly after you initialized the Exchange portion?
I just had a random reboot today. However I setup my exchange yesterday with no problems. The reboot happened when I started monkey ball

Ok I am pulling my hair out.

I've set and reset up my IIS and it's accepting my Exchange settings and NOT syncing.

Anyone who has access to their server, could you compare your settings to mine? Please.

Additionally. Recreated the exchange-oma virtual directory several times. I can get to OMA. I can get to webmail. And our Smart phones are syncing.

I've tried installing our cert on the iPhone. I've also tried to sync up with out SSL installed. Nothing works.

I know my iPhone settings are correct. I've tried 100s on combinations.

Desperate here.

ok guys, how about this.. maybe something a lot of you haven't though of.. i just got off the phone with my email guys for my office. they have imap and pop3 turned off. it would need to be a change order for my company and cost them more money a month in order to turn these features on.

basically, i think i am screwed if i cant just add an exchange email or point my phone to look at webmail.mywork.com and retreive my mail.. this is bad news to my ears.

Just wanted to confirm that I'm having similar issues (and my IIS settings are similar to yours, with the exception that I put in my default domain name for each IIS virtual site.)

Basically, I'm able to verify my account, but unable to synchronize any data (or send any emails). I'll keep at it and post anything if I get it figured out.

Something Windows/Microsoft Update missed. I needed Exchange 2003 SP2.
Installed that and it just started syncing perfectly. Thanks for all the help.

ActiveSync will not connect

I keep getting the error 'exchange account verification failure'. i have opened all the ports on my front end server and they point to my exchange server. I have disable SSL on the exchange server and Imap is running. I can connect to my mail account but I cannot sync the calendars and contacts. I think the actual activesync is not working somehow. It is enabled on the exchange server, is there something on the front end server i need to do in order for the exchange server to respond? Owa works. I am having a heck of a time getting this activesync working. I even installed exchange 2007 thinking it would be better. I have opened up any port i could think of. ?

any help would be great. my eyes are red from searching for a solution.

My Exchange issue

Hey all, I can get exchange to connect and work on my 2G iPhone, however it only works when I'm within our wifi network. Once I leave the network, Exchange will not connect. This is an Exchange 2003 Server. Everyone else seems to have the exact opposite problem. They can get Exchange to work over Edge but not within their wifi network. I'm stumped...

I've set up quite a few 3G iPhones for clients now, yet I still have the 1 Exchange environment that won't sync.

I've set up both 2003/2003SBS/2007 environments to work, yet I can't figure out this one environment. I've been working (VEEERY SLOOOWLY) with Apple tech support in trying to figure out what is different with this one environment, but I haven't found a resolution yet. Apple technicians seem to want Exchange synchronization to magically happen, and thus far, don't really have any recommendations when it actually comes to an ActiveSync problem. Ironically, Microsoft ActiveSync phones are syncing properly, which makes this even more perplexing.

FYI, I did have problems with the verification, initially. Upon changing some security settings in IIS (mostly enabling SSL for everything following the certificate installation), I did get the account to verify on this particular iPhone, yet it still won't sync.

I'll keep people posted. Please let me know if anyone else finds a solution.

help!

i am having the exact same problems y'all are having, and my IT guys don't know what to do. i can access my work e-mail account fine using the web on the iPhone by going to the exchange website.

the website is http://webmail.my-company.com/exchange

what do i put for the server name? (if i were to use the exchange option) i put webmail.my-company.com/exchange as the server name. is that right?

i've tried the IMAP option as well and do not know what to put for host name. also, which server port # should i use? 993 or 193?

please help me!

Fix for Validate but not Sync issue:

Well, I've finally got the issue resolved.

First I'd like to say that the last few posts have been a bit off-topic from the discussion that originally took place earlier in the thread. This discussion has nothing to do with IMAP syncing, as its specifically addressing active-sync over ports 443 or 80. The topic being covered assumes the following:

1. -You're likely an Admin, and have access to your firewall and Exchange Server.
2. You're forwarding ports 443 (or 80) to your IIS server.
3. You've entered your credentials on the iPhone, and you either can't validate, or you can validate but can't sync afterward.

I reached an Apple representative who was actually very helpful, and he was also familiar with this problem.

This particular client was using a SBS2003 server, which is significant, since the "exchange-oma" virtual directory is automatically created in IIS. For non-SBS servers, its possible that you won't have an "exchange-oma" virtual directory, and if that's the case you will need to create one.

Admins, the good news is that the fix isn't necessarily an Apple fix as much as its an existing Microsoft KBase article: 817379 ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817379/en-us ). For my SBS environment, after backing up the existing /exchange-oma virtual directory, I removed it, and created a new one using the /exchange virtual directory as a template.

I followed through the article, and it worked like a charm. Upon doing an iisreset, my client sent me a message from his phone as it almost immediately began syncing.

Good luck to everyone. I'm glad to have this one solved. :)

FYI my server has a 3rd party certificate installed, but I don't think that's significant to resolving this issue.

What I posted above is probably a fix. If you're not an admin, then you're probably out of luck. :(

we outsource our email here, unfortunately. ahhhhhrrrgrggg.. there has to be SOME WAY of getting this to work without forwarding all my emails to another client and having them push or whatever that work around it. i would get fired SO fast.

look, i am the guinea pig at my office that got the iPhone. i don't care what the title or topic of the thread is. i am trying to get this stupid thing set-up to my work e-mail. i have tried numerous options, and none have worked. i want to throw this thing out of the window b/c it's so frustrating. all i know is that we use 2003 exchange software, i can access my work e-mail via Safari on the phone, and my exchange account gets verified up to the point where i enter in the server name. i know about the domain\username thing. i don't know what to put for server name and neither does my IT people.

when i use the IMAP way, the outgoign server is fine. i don't know my incoming mail server, and neither does my IT people. i don't know what port to use. I've tried 993, 143, 193 and 80.

I've called Apple, i went to AT&T, i have visited 100s of websites to try and figure out how to do this, and this thread is the closest thing i've found.

HOW DO I GET THIS TO WORK?!?!?

Is there anyone out there that can tell me how to set this thing up?!?!?
