Fix Low Volume with Restore?

In another forum I read that some people have had success in fixing their low speaker phone volume issue by restoring the phone through iTunes.

I do not have any protective plastic on my phone. I just feel that the volume (when holding the phone to my ear) and the speaker phone volume is too low compared to other phones I have owned. On the highest setting I would describe it as barely adequate. In noisy environments, it is quite difficult to use. The headset works great by the way.

Here is my question(s) . . . first, has anyone tried doing a restore to fix the low volume issue? Did it work? And second, if this does not fix the issue, what is the probability that the solution would be found in the coveted Software Update that is expected next week? Other than the call volume I love everything else about the phone. Any ideas, solutions or commentary is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A restore will not fix this issue.
If Apple is smart it will be included in the first update/fix.
This seems to be the one common issue everyone is suffering with.

I'm not 100% sure a firmware update could make the volume any louder, without losing mass clarity. I mean, the speaker barely handles my music at 50% volume level, as it is, without distorting.

I agree, but if you could match the IPOD speaker volumes it would be acceptable. Just think it is strange how the IPOD volume could easily blow the speaker while the call volume is barely audible.
There has to be a fix in the work.
I haven't tried it yet, but how is the call volume when using the earbuds? Is it the same as the horrible volume on the speaker and earpiece?

Yeah, I'm hoping the call and speaker volume is adjusted as well with the update. For me too, it's the only thing about the phone I'm not keen on (and no MMS, but that doesn't bug me too much.)

I can probably be done sooner or later. I know there are programs to raise the volume levels on Motorola phones without changing the hardware, so why not iPhone?

software has to improve volume

There's one concern on the volume adjustment for the receiver and the speakerphone. There has to be some allowance to increase it without any feedback problems.

I hope Apple gets this right and gets the volume improved. It just seems odd how loud music can play from the unit.
