Deal. It is hard to wait, but I figure it is worth it, and we can still rightly say we were 3G pre-orders.
If you go to the Apple online store today, you will see the shipping on the 3G iPad is now 5 to 7 businesss days. At this point I'm definitely expecting shipment before May 7. There is no status change to my order, yet.
I just received my shipping notice. Fedex picked it up in SHENZHEN CN and it is on it's way! I ordered on the 26th, but then decided I wanted the 3G 64 GB (had originally ordered the 32 GB), so my order wasn't really until the 28th. Apple is sure working to get them out. There must be whole planes full of iPads winging it to the US.
I got my 64GB 3G on the 30th so I know how y'all feel just waiting. Congrats, it won't be long now!
I ordered my iPAD on April 21st. I was notified this morning that it was shipped from China on Thursday (May 6), and will be delivered by UPS on Monday, May 10th. It will seem like a zillion years until Monday arrives.
An idle thought - I wonder about the time difference. Was the iPAD shipped on May 6th in China or just shipped today, May 6, in the USA? How does that work?

Hmmm. According to the tracking my iPad left Anchorage at 4:34 pm. At the same time flight FDX 86 left Anchorage for Oakland (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX86). So I'm now tracking the flight with my iPad onboard. The question is will be be delivered tomorrow or Monday (as it still shows on the schedule). In any case, I'm going to put a note on the door letting FedEx know we are home so in case it is tomorrow, I won't miss it.
The FedEX tracking page will let you pick local scan time, destination time, origin time, or any time zone.
Edit: I just reread and yours is being shipped UPS. I missed that. I don't know what the UPS page shows. China is a day ahead so if it was shipped on May 6 here it would be May 7 in China.
Woke up this morning all excited about getting my 3G iPad, only to find FedEx came at 7:45 AM and didn't knock loud enough to wake me up. So now my new iPad is enjoying a truck ride all day, and won't get back to the depot until after I have to be at a graduation dinner. Curse FedEx and their speed and efficiency! Why can't they be more like UPS, who has never been at my door before 11 AM?
Dude I would call the local FedEx and see if they will radio the driver so that you could meet him at one of his stops.
I followed the FedEx tracking and was up at 7 am, just in case. As is usual for FedEX here, it was logged in at the local facility at 8:57 am and I met the driver in the driveway at 9:40 am. She said she's been delivering a lot of iPads. I had a few things to take care of before the unboxing, so I didn't get to it until about 20 minutes ago. I'm in the middle of my first sync. Woohoo!
I hope you can still get it. Having to wait all weekend would be pure H-E-double-hockey sticks. BTW, my UPS never gets to my door before 3 pm, and I've seen a package sit until its delivery date. Glad FedEX moves it right along because my tracking said delivery for May 10 right up until I signed for it this morning.
I ordered mine from Apple on 05/01, and have been informed that my expected delivery date is 05/11-05/14....but no confirmation or "ship date" as of yet.
My card has not been charged yet, either.
I just wish that they would use USPS. UPS cannot deliver a package across the street in less than 7 days.

Oh good. I hope you get it soon. I've been playing with mine all day. I'm my own boss and my boss thought setting up the iPad and checking out the new apps was a worthwhile task ;-). Please report back when you get it. We've been waiting together and I am looking forward to your getting yours!
I know. I've seen packages sit in a warehouse until the UPS delivery date. I'm so glad that mine came FedEX. I think most of them are FedEX. You won't know until you get your tracking info. My delivery was scheduled for Monday, but FedEX delivered today. It would have been a very long and iPadless weekend...
