i saw something about AT&T offering a year and a half of free service to new customers converting over from other providers who are also buying iPhones. Anyone heard anything on this?

I kind of doubt that too, they wouldn't be making much money.

It's pointless because people are going to buy the Apple iPhone regardless of having to switch because it's such a hot item.

It'd be like paying people to take something they want anyways.

Doubt it too, especially since Apple is selling the iPhone for over double what it cost to make it.

The "it cost 250$ to manufactor an iPhone" non-sense was proven wrong by the same "rocket scientists" who started ths rumor.

Free Service, you probably saw a commercial for this on YouTube(which is extremely reliable).

Very doubtful, but...

The 1-1/2 year is doubtful, but AT&T may offer a discount of the price of the iPhone. Some customers have received, on their receipts for service, an indication of a $150.00 discount on the iPhone. I would welcome something like that. I wonder...can you get service from AT&T w/o opting for a data plan? I would like to connect wirelessly at home, and through wifi hotspots only. Any thoughts?
