I personally will be going from a Blackberry Pearl to the iPhone. I use it for checking e-mail 95% of the time, and mostly phone and web use. I also have the 8GB Nano which I have about 5GB filled.

The iPhone will replace both units, plus give me a device to access my work orders via the web while I am on the road. Eliminates the need to carry a laptop just to read text via the web by offering a big enough screen. For me, this will be the one!

Just my 2 cents; curious on what everyone else will be switching from...

Sidekick3

I used my treo for apps (ewallet mostly, and cel phone)
SK3 for chat mostly.

Im hoping the iPhone can do all what i want.

I've owned a 60gig iPod, i've owned 2 Treo 650's, I just bought (and sold) a Samsung Blackjack. I had it for about 2 days, loved it, but realized the things I loved about it, would be SO much nicer and more convenient and generally EASY with the iPhone. I turned around and sold it right back on eBay.
I decided to sell it now, 4 months ahead of the iPhone, while it's still the "hot item" in cell phones.

So, technically, I guess i'm upgrading from a Blackjack to the iPhone.
I don't currently own an iPod (and it's killing me), but I will sure as hell be using the FULL capacity of that 8gb HD on the iPhone, when I get it. ;)

getting rid of 2 year old, beat up treo 650 with verizon. I hope this 650 can make it another 3 months, I just had to replace battery as it is my only phone.

Keeping the 20 gb iPod for the collection, but the important music will go on the iPhone.

From Treo 650 to iPhone... if more apps are available at the time of launch. My work DBs are too critical to be cast aside.

I have Sprint/Nextel and I have never been so unhappy. When I first signed up I was on a 1 year contract through work. I then changed my night time from 9pm to 7pm. Well come to find out they resigned me to a new 2 year contract without telling me. I called last month to find out when my contract ended so I can get an iPhone and thats when I found out what had happened. Well, I then started to tell them how upset i was and they knocked $50 off of my bill and said they would send me a new phone at no charge. I was like ok why should I turn this down? I called back the next day (still upset) and said "I want my 1 year contract back"! This guys says laughing "well we just signed you for another 2 years with the new phone we are sending you"! HOLY $#!^ did I go nuts! They said it will be $200 to get out of it. So the way I see it is that they knocked $50 off of my bill and I have 2 phones I can ebay. We'll call it even!

This is a real shady businesss!

P.S. They new phone is beeping at me as I type this because it won't keep a charge for more than 8 hours! I feel like the real life Al Bundy!

Switching from:

Qtek 9100 (HTC Wizard)
8Gb Nano

to the 8Gb iPhone :)

That is assuming that the iPhone performs as expected. It will be so nice to leave Windows Mobile. When I first got the Qtek, it was fun to experiment with 3rd party apps and different firmware releases. After awhile I got really tired of having to figure out which software was making my phone unstable. I eventually eliminated almost all of the 3rd party apps on my phone. IMO, 3rd party apps are overrated.

The funny thing is if the iPhone works as advertised, most of the 3rd party apps I use will not be necessary. Almost all of the apps I have now make the core functions of the phone usable (like PI manager, contact manager, today plugs, etc). The iPhone's built in UI for these things is light years better than what I have now. It will also be nice to know that any 3rd party apps available for the iPhone will be checked by Apple so they should work correctly without any side effects :laugh2:.

Something almost exactly like this happened to my boyfriend a few years ago. He wanted to have the night minutes starting at 7p, and called them about it. They said no problem! Then he finds out when he wanted to join a plan with me with Verizon that he had a brand new 2 year contract with Sprint and they did nothing for him. He was so happy to get away from them. They even called him at the end of the 2 years to ask why he was cancelling service. I felt sorry for the service rep on the other end of that line!

I constantly switch back and forth from a Motorola RAZR to a Blackberry 7130c. Reason is because I quickly get frustrated with the Blackberry phone. As for my iPods, I have a 60GB Video that I use to keep my whole music library and TV shows, but I moslty keep that iPod in my car and hooked up to the radio. For the gym, I have an iPod shuffle.

I am not replacing my iPod, because I don't use it when I walk around. Like I said, I mostly keep it in my car so I can listen to music there. I am simply adding an iPod to my mobile phone by purchasing the iPhone.

Good day to us all,

I went from a HP 6500 phone (using Windows Mobile), to a Motorola RAZR (the first generation, doesn't even have all the bells and whistles of the newer ones), to hopefully an iPhone in June (so soon after... fingers crossed...):)

I just got a nice new HTC 8525 from work... so I guess I'll have the HTC in one pocket, and the iPhone in the other.
