Frozen screen on words with friends.

I had the free version but it kept freezing, and I thought maybe the ads were screwing with it, so I paid the $3 for the paid version.

Now whenever I pull a game up, I'm able to make move, it sends it and updates my pieces/letters but then the screen completely freezes! When I hit the home button the rest of the phone works fine, but when I pull up Words again, it's still frozen on the board so I constantly have to delete and reinstall.

Any suggestions? It's so annoying plus I feel like I wasted $3.

Sometimes the game's servers groan under the constant pressure and buckle. The best thing to do is quit the app, remove it from the multitasking queue, and relaunch it later. It's not uncommon, sometimes you just have to wait awhile.

Delete the app. Do a hard reset. Re install the app. Smile.

A hard reset is when you hold the home and power button at the same time. Ignore the slide to power off and when you see the Apple symbol appear release the buttons. Wait 60 ish seconds (don't panic) and your phone will be back to operation.
I recommend and personally do a hard reset daily.

I had that issue with the latest game update on my iPhone. I reset the network settings and it works fine now.
