Gas prices - Are you using your phone to find a cheap gas station?

I saw a tweet today
Waze saved me x amount on the pump.
So I was wondering?
Do you? Have you ever? Are you going to?
Use an App to find that "Cheap GAS"?

Here's an article I did a while back on how to use your iPhone to find cheap gas. Might be more relevant today. Smart Fuel was my favorite then, but I recently used and enjoyed Fuel Finder.

I have GasBuddy but only used it a few times. More of a novelty. I know who has cheap gas...if you want to call it that.

$4.20/gal for regular.

Right now in California it's something like $5 a gallon. In some places $6. Craziness.

On another note, I use Gas Buddy, but I think the UI is clunky and am looking for a better app. Thing is I like using Gas Buddy's data (crowd sources), but hate the app... Waze's take is still new and clunky as well.

Well what's the point of driving 10 miles to save 3¢/gal?

If your car takes 20 gallons that is a saving of 60¢...so you use more than that to drive to the gas sstation 10 miles away. Unless we're talking around the corner I don't even bother anymore.

And I did never try Waze option for gas but for traffic (love it )

Yeah...I know. Just saying' that some people go crazy driving all over the city trying to save 3¢/gal. Makes no sense. Now in Los Angeles if you can drive somewhere to save 50¢/gal well then maybe! Then you're looking at saving $10/fill up on a 20 gallon purchase.
